G'day,
the oversize motard front disk I have does not have a hole for the
speedo magnet.
Does anyone have a way to get around this without drilling a hole in the disk?
I have tried a piece of fridge magnet cut to small square , but it does not work, too low strength I think.
Or maybe it is the wrong 'pole' or something.
I have heard that some guys superglue a magnet, does this work?
and what kind of magnet was used?[/b]
I used a magnet out of a bit-holder for a screw gun. I counter sunk it into the disc with an appropriately sized hole and it didnt need any super glue.
You might have to move the sensor in or out until it works.

Is the magnet you used fairly strong?
And did the polarity of the magnet have any effect?
eg: from one side of the magnet to the other?
Or did do put it on the disk any side facing out?

I just replaced one of the standard disc mounting bolts with one that came in the trailtech kit. Otherwise you should be able to glue it somewhere, though clearance to the fork and caliper will constrain you somewhat.

I have found there is a KTM part for this. It uses a bracket attached to the disk. I have not seem it yet but BTX is ordering it for me about $25.00.
I will have a look and see if it is worth it, otherwise I think I will machine
a notch in the disk and then Atom glue it
(strong stuff just dont glu your fingers, they will be like that for days)

Not really strong, just the standard magnet that stops your screw bit falling out of the holder. A lot smaller than the standard ktm one... which I was quoted $40 or something ridiculous and would have had to drill anyway.
Neil, the bolts dont line up with the sensor so that wouldnt work for the EXC's.
I only tried one way and it worked.
With a counter sunk hole and the fact that it's a magnet in a stainless steel hole, I don't think it's going anywhere. And it sits flush with the surface of the disc.

i dont know much about the ktm but on my wr i fitted a bicycle computer and 2 part glued a rare earth magnet to the disk on the floating caliper rings i dont know if this helps but i got the magnet from jaycar

and the little bastard magnet is really strong
Andrew
i snapped the end of my husky one. u reckon i can file it back straight and put it back in the hole after i file out some of the thread so it meets the magnet??????

Glueing a medium strength small magnet works fine and have used on a few conversions so far.

I have not seen the Husky magnets, it sound different to the ktm ones,
but sound like it would probably work.
It seems to be trail and error getting the magnet and sensor into the correct position
