Hi just bought a new Aprilia SXV 450 and was after some tips to help the vertically challenged. I heard that Aprilia have a lower seat that I can purchase however I was wonedering if there is anything I can to to the suspension to lower the ride height.
I have had a chat with a few people and they may be a link that acts as a spacer that I can use for the rear suspension however the front does not have much space to lower the triple clamp as it would touch the handle bar. :?:

Welcome Mate.
Shane would be the best to advise you regards the Aprilias having a fleet of differing spec bikes ..
Usually a replacement spring set in the forks with reduced stroke by internal modification rather than sliding them through.
The rears are again usually a link that differs in length to the OEM offering.
Have a look at the Alice Racing website it may offer some information ;)

Remember Alice is a UK based enterprise too though.
Having said that Shane is also on first name basis with the boys there ;)

you are thinking of the VDB seat it is much better than standard but its not any lower , the back is stepped up higher to stop you sliding back and keep you in the right riding position.
to get them to handle you need the shock kit .it actually has offset spacers that raises the rear ride height ,if you fit the kit but leave the shock the standard length ,then have forks shortened by 12-15 mm this would do the same thing , so the bikes geomerty is right . you also need your forks set so you can see 3 lines above the triple clamps .
they need 14mm offset clamps to make them turn also, there is another thread on this at the moment that can save you a load of cash.
if you want to spend cash on upgrades go for a shock kit , triple clamps , foam filter and a new radial master cylinder .thats all you need to make the bike competitve .
make sure you do the breather/overflow hose reroute asap pm me if you dont know how to do it .
also make up a nylon bung to put in the end of you axel as when you go down they grind off and destroy the thread and that destroys the nut .
get your dealer to put the silmoto map in your bike it makes it run much better even with the standard derestricted pipe ask him to also increase your fueling as they can be a little lean .
have fun

Hey SHane is there any news on the changes to the 08's?
Also any news on their MX bike being released yet?

the 08's are much the same but they have fixed the issues with the engine , there are a few small changes like throttle bodies ,the loose the yellow button on the throttle and get a chock like knob on the airbox .they have a switch on the left bar so you can change maps {its on the RXV but said to be on the SXV also} new styling as far as colour and stickers .
the best bit about the 08 is that you can get a 07 at a great price :-}}}}}}}}
the MXV is said to be released at the end on nov/dec in europe , now one of those would be nice

Hi Guys, do you know if the shock kit is available locally i.e in Oz
they are not in aus but you can order one through Danny at Off-Road Aprilia Lincoln
Phone: +44 (0)1522 543006
Fax : +44 (0)1522 539218
email Aprilialincoln@aol.com
i get him to send stuff to thailand all the time its here in under a week .
the standard shock is crap after 4-5 hard laps it turns into a pogo stick ,the kitted shock works very well and is as good as the techoflex and ohlins for the Aprilia and it will cost you a hell of a lot less than 500 quid like the after market ones cost
