Does anyone know what is happening with the Cobden round?
Who wants to go? (and not change their mind  )

I definately want to go ... although i reserve the right to change my mind at the drop of a hat :D

Not sure about the track day though, as I'm full mechanical sympathy mode at the moment due to a bit more oil consumption and a couple of new harmonic vibes :?

It obviously needs a rebuild so don't worry about it give it heaps if it breaks you were going to rebuild it anyway, if it doesn't you had an even better day :D

The broadford sounds good I have no idea where the other is.

I noticed the broadford turnoff on my way to melbourne on monday morning and some Mulbury it started with M ,moto-park on the way back ten km after heathcote towards elmore/echuca.

I realise its getting close, and will be onto the accommodation this week...
So numbers required once again and level of drunkeness on scale of 1 to 10 so we know where not to sleep!

Cobden is a new venue for Supermotard so I cant really offer any insight into the track...

I have all the usual shit organised like tentage etc, and have a light truck to transport it all in too, so bikes to be forwarded to Cobden if need be, can be arranged.

Ben, If you are making the effort to drive down for it, holler if you need any assistance with anything, we usually try to book the accommodation close to the track and cabin style rooms in caravan parks. You won't miss us mate, we are the ones termed the 'Street Group', also the ones ripping it up on the track day...

Neil, How bads the vibes my man?... It would probably hold together for a little spin at Cobden...

4 x single rooms @ $30 per night

Obviously those with a need for the full weekend will get the preference...

Just got back :D Didnt watch the racing Phil had to work at 3pm so yeah.

At first we were not allowed on the track because we werent members of a club :x . Lucky Ben hooked us up with St. george club and we signed up over the phone the M.A rep had to speak to the club to confirm, then it was riding time  .

Phil was 1st on the track and 3 corners in had a massive out of seat moment :o brand new commuter tyre  the yz450 killed it. Once worn in and warm he was very quick. On his second session he was back in after 5 laps with NO front brakes at all :!: .
So he took my bike for a spin was instantly into it and held off a few riders :supz: Ohh he stayed on didnt tip over :D

My first session was rather boring on my behalf just feeling the track and getting into it.
Once the tyres warmed it was crazy fast like no slip just grip 8) the suspension was WAY soft and dived under brakes.

Second time out the forks were wound up a shit load as was the rear instantly better, felt like riding the mini-motard :) .
A rough guess about 2-4 seconds a lap better :D braking was more fun as it chattered bounced slid hopped and sqweeked into every corner  .

I think standard YZ springs are on the to do list. Yes-NO?

The track is great and well maintained, a few to many right handers another left would of been cool but karts are different.

The area around Camberdown where we stayed was very senic and some cool little roads . Video footage of a 4 cylinder corolla towing 2 bikes well 3 a mini aswell blasting down a 2km mountain decent full noise

We were gonna unload the WR and mini but thought nah to buggerd. Really should of had a go!

So we didnt crash, had a blast, got a few pics. got the tyres to the side front and rear  ( Everyone needs a goal LOL)

I can now understand Murrays feelings towards motard in AUS we really need to get a club and get into it with a few balls.

Seeing how it was run was an eye opener ( still good fun and fair for both A&B riders) but Phil and I were taking turns of the leathers as there was a M.A rep there, he made it full leathers unlike Rnd 1&2 were he said dri-rider/ draggin jeans and he said that himself to me.

Some of the gear being worn was not full leathers but they were on high powerd 450s and riding to the limit so I understand why a street rider taking it at 75% or so would be harmful. <MASSIVE SARCASM>. So yeah a club is needed well .... Lets give it a go.

I understand as promoter he sets the rules. But wouldn't a 3 round series have a set of rules from the start? thats the thing I think needed to be sorted.

Just remembered no dirt section as it wasn't ready in time

Any ideas guys?

WITHOUT MALICE:
Further to what Jake has to say regarding the state of affairs for motard specific club base in Australia, Paul Caridi informed us that the SRCA is in fact officially dead and has been so for 12 months.
So there is no representation from the motarding community to M.A it would seem, but having said that there was an M.A official on hand this weekend that saw us excluded from events of the track day for christ sake as we are not 'members of a recognised club'.
As the 'street group' previously, it has been the kart clubs discretion coupled with Pauls need to fund the weekend that allowed us the usage of the track on our regular Vic Roads issued licences with the track fee.
The idea of the whole friggin track days thing is to bring in new people, and there were several there on OEM wheels, maybe already financial members of other clubs but not motard specific racing for certain, yet with a requirement that was imposed to get a couple of new blokes to motard some time on a track before deciding whether to go the whole hog and get wheels etc, was at a price that would see most fellas tell them to 'stick it up their arse' and drive off and tell all their mates, 'screw going to the racing they're all dickheads anyway'...
And that was when we are already known so?
Maybe time to approach M.A so we can run a few track days of our own, yes?
Didnt go to the racing as I believe there was 38 entrants and it was raining in the morning, thought I might just stay in bed...

Special thanks to Ben and Hamish for the assistance with administration with St. George Club to get the boys on the track also...
Hope you fellas had a good days racing and a safe trip home...

Good to hear you had some fun at least lads

I had an uneventful day at Broadford on the little KR, which went well apart from ejecting all its coolant on the first semi-dry session after doing a prior 3 or 4 in the wet. Not happy Jan  (suspect head or base gaskets gone)

Muzz ... is it worth approaching motorcycling vic? They have a club of sorts independent of hartwell, as my vic rec license is done through the broadford track club, which as far as I can tell is an extension of m/vic. Is it worth approaching them and finding out whether they would somehow sponsor club affiliation in some manner that wouldn't require incorporation of VSMR? Just thinkin... :-k

Btw, the new surface at broadford is FUCKING FANTASTIC. I'm talking Phillip Island good. And for those who have been around PI, that's damn good 8)

We had a pretty good time down their , except for the shitty weather. After the rain in the morning it was a great days racing.

Running an intermediate for qualifying was not the best choice but after droping 8psi, front and rear I went 7 second quicker which qualified me in 7th place.

The first race and the intermediate paid off towards to end of the race and i came in around 5th place.

The weather was changing and most opted for full slicks which was the best choice for the rest of the day.

The second race and things started to go wrong, a crashed rider in front made me stop as the field all sailed by, riding over my head and passing riders in most corners I ran hot into the last turn onto the straight and lost the front. DNF

The third race was a repeat of race two, eg crashed rider , trying to catch up crash. DNF 2

The 4th race was awesome with Glenn Macdonald and me going at it for the full race, neither of us made any real mistakes and Glenn managed to hold me off to finish in front.

The 5th race saw the most aggressive of the weekend with me and Chas Hern fighting over every inch of the track. Inside/ outside I shoved my bike any where there was a gap. Again no mistakes were made by either of us and Chas crossed the line in front of me, leaving me to take 3rd place.

The track was great , every one was freindly. All the kids running around was great and the spectators had a great day of racing.
