G'day all!!
Nice site you've got here. I was just wondering about something and maybe you can help me. I just bought a motard which will be used for street use only. What gear do you wear? Leathers, goretex, off road boots, gloves and so on? whats best for road use?
Cheers all and maybe I'll see ya on the road someday?

I think it's all opinion, I ride with leathers but I tend to ride a little loose a lot so I think it's better to have the protection. Others maybe just commute so your dririder type gear is OK. (I'm not having a go Neil remember I've ridden with you before you go OK).
It's just my opinion, work out how you ride then get thte gear to suit.
By the way what do you ride and where?

On my daily commute I just wear a pair of thick jeans and either leather jacket (in summer) or my brandy-new dririder rally-x which is abrasion resistant and has CE armour in it. Protective enough, especially if you don't have a propensity to throw yourself at the ground while dodging cars.
(Hey ash - :finga:  just jokes mate  )
For more spirited riding I wear my 2 piece tiger angel race suit (same as I wear riding sports bikes/track) and alpinestars...

boots, jeans, and a dainese body armour top.
I'll wear the pants from my leathers if it's a 'spirited' ride.
This is what i wear for all my bikes.
You do tend to get some odd looks when you ride a 1000cc Aprilia wearing body armour though.

I'd be cautious about wearing jeans without some sort of added kevlar, as standard jeans rip apart real quick even at slow speeds, leaving your skin to get up close and personal to the road. Ive been there and it hurts. Leather pants do a great job of keeping your skin where it is ment to be.
Min I would recommend is draggin (or other similar brand), then synthetic (which can still rip to bits {seen some bad shit from a mate}), but best and baddest is leather. wear it and be a BMF!

Thongs, singlet and shorts for Summer, flanellette shirt and blundstone boots for Winter.. Seriously, Dririder jacket, jeans and boots for social riding, and full one piece leathers for riding anywhere near the other blokes from VSMR....

Ok cool thanks. So leather is the go hey? Shame off road stuff looks much better.... What about armour and boots? what do you fellas ride in? Any recomendations? I've heard cross boots are the best. And do you ride in off road helmets? Gotta look the part..... 8)
I suppose I don't have to look like a pro as I only got a KLX650 I made into a motard........but it goes gooood!!!
Are all you fellas from Victoria?
Thanks

I wear alpinestar road boots myself, but a lot of the guys use MX boots. Whatever your most comfortable with, but the MX ones do afford a bit more protection if you favour the whole foot out thing.
I've got both road helmets and an MX helmet. The MX helmet is good in the summer when I'm rolling around the place, but find that it has way too much lift when at decent speed (over 80kph) to be near as comfotable as my arai road helmet.
Nothing wrong with KLX's mate, I had a few mates who raced them in enduros

I use tech 8's and a moto helmet, however I will switch to a rroad helmet in the rain or if I'm not well (It's much quieter) or a headache.

Oh is that how it is hey! I'll start going through your posts now and do some correcting.
Thats the beauty of a motard- you can wear whatever the fuck you want :D
Definately get a road helmet- Ive only got a moto-x one and its a pain in the arse. :x
Thongs are fine- but make sure the strap is nice and thick for the gear lever  I always wear a dainese back protector for serious rides too ;)

Alpinestar Dyno leather jacket, draggin cargo's, motocross gloves for around town leather for long distance/harder riding.
When I start riding the WR I will use my moto boots and still use my Suomi road helmet.
Ohh I got my licence back
