Apparently I have to get a safety certificate for my bike if I want to transfer the rego from SA to Qld. I'm a bit sketchy because I don't think it will pass as it hasn't got indicators, horn etc. Can anybody give some advice about what I need to pass and also any workshops you'd recommend I go to.
Cheers

yep you will definately need indicators and a horn, usuals they check are tyres, brakes, all lights and chain and sprokets. a big one for them now is you have to have the full mudguard on not the shorter off road ones on the rear. they can be anal sometimes especially if you take it to a bigger bike shop.

should take it to the mob that did the roadworthy on my bike before i got it
think they missed about 15 things the stupid pricks (previous owner got RWC)
when i called them to get up them about there serious stupidity and lack of ability to inspect a bike they sorta said "oh its just a bike mate, not like a car where people actually give a shit, it'll be right"
then again i don't think i would ever let them near my bike now its mine

That is me mate. It is actually a wr250 and is rego'd down in SA, it has the switchblocks for indicators etc but they aren't hooked up and the wiring loom looks like it has just been cut, I don't know how salvagable it is. Can anybody recommend a good electrician in Brisbane who might be able to sort this stuff out?

i'd say either fix it yourself or buy a loom from wreckers if yours is stuffed
my guess is what it would cost to get a sparky to fix your loom would not be worth it, like it will either be easy enough you can do it yourself or new loom time. I may however be wrong

Oh its a WR cool!... does it have to be a bike mechanics? i thought it could be any auto mechanics, just get the indicators lights, oil leaks and good tread and your sweet... how hacked up is the loom?

I'm not really that handy unfortunately plus I just moved up here and have no access to tools, space etc
The loom is pretty rooted you can see in this photo how it has just been cut.

Hey Tambi, what colour are the forks?

Dan you should be able to replicate a current ADR compliant YZWR 125/250 loom or buy one direct from Yamaha as a spare part complete from up to 2003 model that I can be sure of.
Wiring with indicators and horn ;)

You're a champ Muzz, I'll track one down :D

I wanted the forks to be like the seat, so that was what I asked for but because of the weathered metal it made them come out as they did.

Life would be nice if this was the case, but back in the old WR two stroke days, it was a wr not a modded yz. The post 2000 bikes are moded yz, so the loom will be ultra different from the 90's model bikes. Its like saying you can just get a new WR450 loom and it will be the same as a 90's model two stroke wr, because I am sure the new WR's is where the loom would come from for the YZ250WR of the 00-03 (I think), because all they did was mod the YZs.

Times change Muzz......

Tambi, its easy doing wiring, just get your hands on a wiring pic and you are good to go.

Dan, It's an easy job for any Auto Electrician, especially if you pull off all the bodywork.
