$65 for the day I'm keen to get out and have a go!
Who else??

Is this the flat track Ash?
If so, do you know if you are allowed to run with MX tyres?

You really need a motard setup or a 19" front wheel and 2.50" rims to suit the dirt track specific Bridgestones.
Long gears for the YZ or it comes home in a box too
I am not sure whether they will allow knobbies onto the circuit as it tears them up a bit, but some places allow them on the front only so it would pay you to ring in advance ;)

Your allowed front knobbies but not on the back.
I was thinking of taking the 610 since I should hve another form of transport (fingers crossed)

Everybody there uses front 21" knobby, on rear most use michelin radial trials tyre-- we use IRC radial trials tyre.
Joe has done lots of laps there on 17" slicks and wets too it is not the advantage it is on NSW oil tracks but they 're good for SM practise.
Answer -- use what you have but no rear knobbies.
road 17" is fine
we won't be there --- region MX at Rosebud that weekend-- but good crew will welcome anyone.
I'll be out in the seniors this weekend at Broadford road race circuit on my ATK tard------ any other over 45's come on out.
They are doing one event license for $40 enter on day

Gearing -- std YZ250F 13/48 will work fine -- you won't hit the limiter in top
Last time we were there I think we were using 14/50 on an 18" rear
Don't forget an inch in tyre diamer is worth a tooth on the sprocket.
Roughly 3" between a trails tyre and a 160/60 17
So for same gearing on rear 17" you'd run 47 teeth.
Don't gear it for road race track cos straight is not that long

Sounds good, but I'm out this time, got a Caravan yesterday so we are testing it out that weekend down the coast.

Yeah, it was a bit like that Ash :D , we just went to look yesterday  but with kids, they are only young once and the fun they get out of caravaning will be unforgettable.
Modifications to fit a bike on the front :? course yes, don't be daft, but these things take time, gota get the van in the driveway first

I'm gonna have to have a look around to get rid of this picture and post one with cred,
I have one somewhere taken near Condobolin launching off a sandy hill on the track I used to train at about 145 kph on the 685 practice bike casually scrolling on the map roller and still sitting on the seat.
In the panarama of the picture it comes into context and you realise I am about 20 feet off the ground and only wearing basic short sleeve cotton mechanics overalls with the helmet and boots at the time.
Almost looks surreal or photoshopped because of the quality of the picture, but isn't ;)
This is a motard site so I dont post too many dirt orientated pictures usually as I understand you wont either.
Theres an off topic forum for it anyways if you really have to

And no you cant do that there the corners are bigger.
Besides that the wheels are a funny size and configuration
for either dirt track or motard anyway

Mark Avard's got that date slotted for motard practice at Calder Park. It's still down on his website as 'to be confirmed' though. Anyone heard whether this is still going ahead :?:

Maybe they could run a new class for motards at Nuna's on their race days. All good until they put those bloody sprinklers on :P

Or they could have the motars sprinkler race for everyone else to watch us crash!!!
U can ride motards at nuna, just got to keep them under 250cc because of insurance. I asked if I could ride the berg there, but no go, cos its a little bit bigger than 250cc.
Muzz, who else from NDMX is riding a motard at the Nationals (Ash is not a member of NDMX at the moment)?

Yeah, a mate of mine has ridden a motard there before. I'll try it at some stage, probably when I cant be bothered changing wheels after a motard day ;)

Argh.
I tell you what tire warmers are good for.....warming tires before you go to change them ;) I swapped the green rim, with the good disks swapped on and good front tire onto the grey (waiting for Ash to paint) 6r. Just got to put the corresponding rear tire onto to the rear rim now, which means another 2 tire changes :( Thank god for warmers in this cold weather!!!!
