A couple in there multi-classing Shane.
Get the 450 outta the container and stick it to 'em mate.
Or get older quicker and get stuck into the Vets.
If I can find a ride for next season I'm in there for sure,
Phils had it his own way too long ;)

Shane would find it too hard in the vets. Some of these guys are really quick
As I am going to find out on Friday/Saturday.
Hope to be parked next to the Aprilia team truck.
If anyone would like to come and say hello and see how the gereatrics do it. Must remember to put my zimmer in the truck along with my incontinent pads and my magnifying glass to read the programme :D :D

i really dont know how people can do that , i would much rather come dead last riding with the fastest guys there is than win a lower group , how can you learn if your in the front ??? always better to be chasing a faster guy :D :D

maico949
22-08-2007, 08:28 PM
Well I must be learning all the time because I'm always chasing faster guys, (like a dog chasing a car) but can never catch them
I'll be happy on Saturday if there is at least one person chasing me.
I'll be happy if I can keep the bike sunny side up. Looking forward to the weekend away from she who must be obeyed. I won't be expected to make coffee every half hour.

i am so jealous devo, and all the others that are racing. why did i put the dirt wheels back on?!?!?!?

i was thinking about this a bit today, why do they have a novice class at the australian championship rounds? (don't get me wrong, i'd love to have a go) but isn't the idea of the oz championship to find the best?
does anyone have any idea why they wouldn't make the main races go for 2-3 laps longer each time instead of a novice class?
i can understand the idea of the novice class at the state rounds, as there is limited other entry level racing oportunities.

shane, do they run a novice class in other countries?

The way it looks to me, the Aus Champs isnt like swimming or athletics or whatnot, it's just another series within the supermoto calender, but one which visits more tracks and is the main series for this reason.

Besides, without the support classes where do you get new riders from, and where do the old riders go? I can understand from a spectator point of view it might be a bit boring to watch a bunch of amateurs wobbling around, but even when you watch state of origin they have kids' footy at the start. :P

Ruderbager,
They run the novice class to get more entry money to make the meeting more viable and helps put more people through the gate (mums, dads, girlfriends etc). To run an Australian round costs a lot of money. I am a vet and you may think the same about us, but we are out to have a good time and enjoy our racing. Some of the vets have been the best and now do it just for the enjoyment of racing. We are not racing for sheep stations. We are all out to have a good time. The novices fills the programme and some of these guys want to make it in the higher classes. The more they race, the better they get. Even watching the top guys will help them improve. Let's face it, we all have to start somewhere

at the british rounds they run the 450 national sat and open national sun , the open national had 128 entrys they run the morning practice this decides the group and grid . top 30 a next b ,c ,d etc the top 2 from the first race go up to the next group so you have grids of 32 for races 2 & 3

works out really well as everyone gets to race people doing the same lap times .

Speak for yourself there champ, I intend to be out of control and putting on a show for the crowd, even if it is in the "retard" class. I will also be busting some stunts after the flag (even if I dont win). :D

well ill definitely be interested to see the results. i have seen angus in action of the 450 and 505 and i must say he is incredible. he doesnt look as fast as the other guys but hes doing half a second quicker than them. i think his smoothness is what gives him the speed he has some skill.

hows your clutch going devo? I heard through the grape vine you were having problems with it.

Most importantly here-- there are no state rounds. You are lucky in QLD, also obviously NSW. But if you live in Vic ,NT, SA or TAS, this may be the first chance you've had to race. I think Mark will upgrade anyone obviously too quick to Clubman -- this is how it works. Chasing novice trophies is not really an option !!!!!!!!!
As Shane said they had A,B,C & D in English champs----- soon as you go outside your class they upgrade you----- common sense really.
There were a few odd ones who qualified for the (elite) British champs but then elected not to run them---- they obviously wanted the lesser trophies. It did Joe a lot of good running with the top boys. Difference to here where top 3-5 are on it------ there it is 20 .
I didn't appreciate having all those classes at British Championship rounds-- but after I was told what track hire costs there I understand----that's why they have to have cars at the meetings too.
Mark also needs some support here---- anyone wanting to have a crack get into the novice class-- that is exactly why it's there.
I'm sure he'll take entries on the day, or if you can't do Saturday just do the rounds you can-- then we will grow.

Exactly the core focus of Team VSMR Supermoto Martin.
Offer a level of support from business that are also actively involved at progressing the Sport and mentor the new blokes coming into the heady world of racing with an element of comfort and confidence.
They all start somewhere, many develop the love of competition from Track days and racing is the next logical step.
There are more coming directly from the street scene also due to the anti-hoon legislation.
Many say they feel under-equipped, or not on the pace and will be an obstacle on the track.
Its a matter of offering a 'hand' with a level of support to attempt to offset cost and offer some equipment under a common desire and purpose.
Get numbers into the fray, make the events successful, give racers a regular calendar State to State and a full field of Riders come the Championships later down the track including a Novice class with novices riding in it ;)
Coincidentally Martin,
Did you get an email from me recently mate 8)

I agree with Shane, I always want to run the "real" class in what ever I choose to race in. But novice is there for those who want to have a go and see or just have a bit of fun!

i knew it would kinda sound like an attack on people in the class, i was just curious. if i had tyre warmers i reckon i'd be on the way to sydney now to have a go at it in the novice class as well.
i didn't realise they didn't have state rounds in most other states. that does make it hard to get racing. and even then you have to travel a bloody long way to have a go if you want to do more than 1 round.

anyway. have fun there devo and everyone else competing.

Your jealouse!
Not really, as; I have money to spend on what ever I want, I dont work weekends, I have a berg that goes really fast and when its cold I can wear my tyre warmers around the house to keep warm :D

Back on topic, is anyone from interstate going to travel down to the Vic round?
