View Full Version : Which tyres?
What tyres are people running?
How good are road bike tyres on dirt roads?
How long does a Maxxis Hard rear motard tyre last?
:-k Im using the prescribed Pirelli MT60 corsa's on my LC4, and Im up for a new rear AGAIN :x
Im thinking of running sportsbike tyres coz I want the stickiness, low profile and 160 section that my Pirellis have, but I want to steer clear of a BMW GS sort of tyre-( like Pirelli scorpions or Avon distanzias), coz I need the stickiness.

AVON DISTANZIAS are the ducks guts for motarding there Rick.
You will be hard pressed to find a better tyre...
If your bike is fitted with a 4.25" rear go the 150, and for the 5" rear on later models the 160 will do just nicely.
I get some good mileage outta mine and have no complaints. A few others on this site are fitting them now after seeing just how good they really are as an all purpose MOTARD SPECIFIC tyre. :D

...and to put rick's mind at ease, the distanzia in the 17" rim sizes is just the tread pattern from the GS type ones, but runs the carcass and tread compound of their azaro full sports sticky tyre....
looking forward to mine :D
I just wish I knew a bit more about the distanzia... :-k they look like theyd be good on dirt.
Any idea how long a rear distanzia would last?
Im getting 2200 kms out of the rear Pirelli MT60 corsas, while fronts last ages- about 11000 kms by my calculations.
ANY tyre performance/ milage info would be much appreciated. 8)

I run a slick no probs at the moment it's really fun for the first 2-3 km's untill it gets a little warm! You do have to be aware that it will slide easy when it's cold.
Other than that I think the other tyres were dunlop 207's they were OK too.
