How to i set the front sag?

front end is pushing, forks not compressing mid corner. i plan to get rear sag sorted which will help and also drop forks in triples.

Easiest with a friend. Pull your forks to full extension and measure the amount of inner fork tube exposed. Then pull the rear of the bike up until you feel it hit against the bump stop, but don't lift the rear tyre off the ground - measure the vertical travel with something (I've marked a broom handle or something similar in the past).

Once you've done that and have your full extension settings, measure them again with the bike supporting its own weight and then with you on it wearing your riding gear (this is where the friend comes in handy). Just subtract the two numbers to give you your static and rider sag accordingly.

General consensus is that you're looking for about 30% rider sag. While you can stuff around with preload a bit to make some change, if you go beyond what you can easily adjust you need to drop in heavier or lighter fork/shock springs.

Do some measurements and post up some numbers and no doubt suggestions will ensue...

Easiest with a friend.

That's Jovian stuffed straight away!

All good stuff Neil but one thing I would add is to gently bounce the bike a few times before measuring to ensure there is no seal stiction holding some of the weight. (more likely on the front)

Push down slowly and let it raise and lift and liet it fall slowly. Then average these 2 measurments, which removes the problem of stiction.

Good point! That was a detail that I intentionally omitted to see if you were all paying attention :lol2:

Personally I subscribe to sibbo's method as well, compress then allow to rebound to its 'natural' level and measure, then extend and allow to compress, take the 2 sag measurements add together and divide by 2 to give you the mean point...

Not real sure what you mean there Jove.
The lockring should go as far as the adjusting ring surely...
And dont worry about how it feels at the moment as to what it measures.

Take the measurements, work out how much preload you have wound on, find out your full possible suspension travel and post the data up here...
