How do you want to do the ride to calder?
Where should we meet?
Should it be a Transport type ride or a licorice laying event??
Ash

Hey Ash, If I wanted a Transport type ride, I'd take the friggin Met  . Is there or has there ever been any other way to ride your motard? I will be van loaded I suggest although the missus could big wheel it and I could ride to the event with you blokes. Should I get the opportunity to set up on the day prior then all would be cool... As there is a few in the Eastern Suburbs, and I will be in a motel in Ringwood we should form up somewhere there.... Carpark out front of A1 in Ringwood where Autobahn is. Between Nova Honda and Peter Stevens...Time I reckon about 8.30 am to leave at 8.45/9.00. This will give us time for playing on the way out there! ....Thoughts mate?

Sounds good, although maybe make the meeting place my front yard so you blokes can kick me out of bed at that ungodly hour! Only kiddin, sounds good!! I defiantely vote riding up, its only an hour or two from melbourne and i'm sure we can find somewhere interesting to ride up through baccus marsh or sumptin.

I was just checking to see if you'd gone soft after your last off muzz!
Let me know if the route there is going to require me to change my gearing.

Ash, The only time I would be likely to go soft was if I fell asleep in the bath! ...Muzz...

Your front lawns looking better all the time Neil, have you seen Rickys agenda for the Calder meet yet? Gates open @ 7 am! Scrutineering @ 9am, Me thinks me be setting up Friday, but we really dont need much on the day, a bit of shade, chairs, leaflets/flyers, outstanding charm and exceedingly good looks! 8) ...Oh and a decent bike stand! ...Muzz...

Wobbly
03-01-2005, 01:37 PM
Geezus! Are we ok for getting everything out there ie. chairs, etc? If need be I could drive up there in my van with the bike in the back and stuff more gear in it ... I wouldn't grumble about not riding up .... much :D

Actually, that's a good point ... do we have everything we need or do we need to sort out the specifics of exactly what needs to be taken up (tables, etc etc)? Does the site have power?

Is it worth taking up a laptop or something and playing a bunch of motard vids or sumptin in the background? Or is that a waste of time given the audience in attendence? Or, hang on, how about running a copy of the web site? I could set that up easy enough and just have it running on the lappy......

Organisation time, bikes need to confirmed, A more detailed site plan will be available shortly, I have a van, table, chairs, extension leads, limited shade provision that is transportable as my shade house is on loan at present...Good point about the ride out Neil, I dont really want to be late or on a dirty bike  ... My van has a towbar and if there is a trailer out there to hook on with bikes, they're being towed, no problems. A VDU is an excellent idea, I had considered that but are unable to locate a loaner as rental gets too dear coupled with the rest of the weekend. If you can organise a VDU, video of racing, or anything that you consider a worthwhile item to display (Ash's Turbo) let us know now so we can make some final plans 8) ...Muzz...

Turbo no problem.
I may have to ride as my wife is driving my tow car that day, unless I go with Neil if there is room. I have an old gokart tent that I used as shelter when I was racing I dont know if it's suitable. I'm testing my memory but I think its 4m x 4m with a pole in the middle. let me know if you need it I'll have to get it out and check it's all there
I could drop it off at Neils during the week if you need it.
Also is there a cost for us getting in?
If so what is it?

Or a gullible passer by to whom you say "hang on, can you hold this a second?"

Hey Ash, if we can squeeze in 2 bikes into my van you're more than welcome to ride along with me. I'd need to work out a way to get one bike in backwards though, unless we chock one of the front wheels to set it back a bit and overlap the bars? You're welcome to drop down to my place for a bit of trial fitment if you'd like.

Btw, anyone tried out these? >>Clicky Here (http://www.fullnoise.com.au/new_products/index.cfm?fuseaction=display_full&product_id=12&cfid=5908337&cftoken=95865079&dts=101200543723)<<

I had a look at the bike expo last year and they look pretty damn good, and they're reasonably priced, about $110 for the dirt bike ones and $160 for roadies. Might have to pick up a set for the (t)rusty van!!

A mate of mine has one of those rear wheel tie downs for his Aprilia.
I've seen it in use, very easy to get on and off and hols the back of the bike very firmly.

For a wheel fitted with a knobby I reckon you could make one yourself for $30, but for a smooth(er) tyre you need the type od setup they show in the pics.

Another thing my mate put in his van is some anchor points made for aircraft. They are super strong and the base fits flush with the floor and the anchor pin slides in with a spring and twist retainer.
Super quick to lock in place, and makes the back of the van much more accessible when the bike is not in there.

dicky.

schweet - got any pics? i just had some bolt together mounts made up, basically a U welded to the top one and the bottom one tapped so you bolt them either side of the floor in the van. they're out of the way so no problem, but something like those sunk ringlet type jiggers would be wicked cool 8)

OMG, talking about cool tie down points in a van, wot a dork

I'll try and get a pic of the moutings this week.
I asked him about them this morning.
The rear wheel holder is from KYA racing, 9729 2432
The mount points came from the same guy.
These things were on display at the bike expo last year.

Looks like I will be in Melbourne the night before, but cant leave Wangaratta until 4.30 pm which makes for an appearance in the eastern suburbs around 7.30 pm. All things being under control, I would be looking for some light ride entertainment if anyone is allowed out 2 nights in a row! I dont really want to bend up the mootang the night before Calder, so a cafe cruise would be in order 8) might generate some stir if there were a few out... We could call it a 'post-wash, pre-display' test ride if your missus asks! :Hangman:

Flash
14-01-2005, 09:44 AM
Should I ask again? Is this going to be a licorice laying event or a soft ass bitch ride???

I just put my leave form in, I'll let you know later today when I hear from the missus!!

Muzzard
14-01-2005, 10:37 AM
I would have brought my grass skirt, but theres hedge burners down there. They'de either light it or smoke it, or both. So you just have your bike pointing out the driveway, and upwards Ash!

Wobbly

Sounds like it might be pizza, How about Lygon St?

Flash
17-01-2005, 04:48 PM
If we do it there it may end up a licorice laying event!!
I guess that means that you wont get to see my skirt and my nicely
shaved legs!!! (cyclist remember)
I'm happy to go where ever if your staying in Ringood Muzz there is a couple of good pizza places in that area.

Wobbly
17-01-2005, 05:00 PM
Llygon street (or however you spell the damn thing) should be good, or if you don't want to crowd in with the rest of the doof-doof brigade you can always go up rathdown st to the original la porchetta, although the food there isn't as nice as the 'real deal' .... or ringwood, or st kilda, or.... :D

Muzzard
17-01-2005, 07:52 PM
Anywhere to show the bling and upset them desmodronic ridin' poofs! :axe:

Ash, If you keep talking about licorice, you'll end up with a black tongue!

Looks like trusty ol' Ringwood Motel on the highway. (Burnt Bridge) Hoping to arrive there around 7.30pm but could run another hour, so want to meet there at 9pm?...
Will most likely be there for Saturday as well, so the Dandenongs will be alive early Sunday morning!...

For riding to calder, myself and ash are loading up the Van Of Death with the bikes and driving out there

muzz, are you driving out in your van on saturday morning?

Muzzard
19-01-2005, 10:44 PM
Got a bit confusing John, now the Ringwood Motel in Maroondah Hwy at 8.30pm. From there to Mitcham to a pizzera for an eat and drink, then maybe a little tour or ??
I should be in Melbourne by 8pm and had time to unload the gear etc, this is Friday night now...

Saturday, real friggin early I will be loading the van with all my shit and and heading for Neils. He now knows this as he reads it! and responds with a time to be there thats OK for him and Ash.
(I think about 7.30 to make sure we have everything and leave there about 8.00am for Calder.) I have a towbar on the van if you have access to a trailer. That gets 4 of us there together, or you can ride along with us if you please.
Dicky is bringing in the big KTM, and I'm hoping some others will come out too...Husaberg owners take note...

Trubritbiker
20-01-2005, 04:04 PM
I can't make it on Friday or Sunday as my wife now works part time on weekends but if i get Neils address I will be there at 7.30-8 on Saturday morning. Muzz, i know you said to post a cheque but could i give you the money on Saturday for my shirt?. The bike got washed today - it rained

Wobbly

Nah, that's allright, I'll just need to get up a bit earlier than I do for work!

My wheels are now all nice and black again ... amazing how much some wd40 and a rag can get off them :D
