How easy is it to highside a supermoto bike? I've seen it done on the TV during a race where a fella backed it in, it grabbed and chucked him over the bars. This other fella I know reckons highsiding a supermoto is almost impossible citing spongy suspension (compared to a roadie) as his defence, but I called bullshit. I don't think it's that hard to do. Neil, hopefully you've highsided yours and can give me a first hand account

Yep, Sounds like someone with a poorly set up motard if he even has one!
Course you can get highsided Cal, and just as easily as a sportbike if you are not watching what you are doing. That and spear yourself into guide posts!
And I think the only thing spongy is between his ears mate!

I reckon if you watch anyone trying to back it in for the first time you could easily dispell that myth ... although the longer travel suspension will soak part of it up, there is an equal and opposite reaction following it up...!

You can also do it turning into an alley way behind a pizza shop in 1st gear.

:snigger:

Yeah I knew that was fucking coming!!!
If you try to back it in to much and you stall or something it will spit you. But it is a lot more forgiving :)

So you're going to be riding down the road with one of those big foam jobbies?

Or one that has the emergency tracheotomy hole cut in the front? :P

Also cold slicks will spit you good too.
I was having a bit too much fun as soon as I left work and I got the bike onto full opposite lock around a 3 gear left hander and ran out of revs then whoops, almost.
Was still fun though!!

Oh dear...

On the other hand I got a flatty today

Luckily nobody was watching when I was leaving work at lunch, so I left sedately and worked it out in a few corners. Had someone been watching and I decided to be a smart arse, give it heaps and wheelie off the footpath or something I'd probably have pulled it right off the rim

Bloody road shrapnel :?

Btw, anyone got any good ideas for avoiding flats? Kevlar liner on the tube surface?

And no, "watching where you're going" is not an option  :P

I trust your using Heidenau Supermoto tubes then Neil? :?
They are not easy to puncture...

I have done some experiments with bitron stuff you put in the tyre. It does work. Ideally you need ot have it in before the puncture, but it will work after as well.

It is a thick liquid with fiber stuff in it, which stops the liguid flowing out and stops the air leak. Don't know where you can get it, as i got some of a friends old man, who was selling the stuff. unfortuantly, he is based in horsham, so it is a bit of pain to go get some!
