Hey all, (Neil move this if you like)

Ive been noticing some talk about bike security options and thought Id let you know about a new product on its way.

This is a product that I am having made here in Melbourne by a small engineering firm.

It is made totally from Stainless Steel, and bolts (dynabolts) to the ground. If you park your bike in your driveway or garage, you just roll the bike into it, and lock the pin.

We also have one which is suitable for mounting into your trailer (I have heard of many bikes dissapearing from trailers).

Although this is not help full for ppl who ride to work or uni, it is well worth the investment for home use.

We are currently in discussions with insurance companies to have this product favourably looked upon in some way.

I have attached a picture of one of our prototypes, but expect the product when it is released (hopefully inside a month) to be a super nice bead polished finish.

Im expecting that the unit will retail for around the $280 mark, with VSMR discounts available.

Any thoughts?

Looks interesting chris ... is it 'motard friendly'? ie. does the pin fit properly through a spoked wheel? :-k

Neil,

I havent parked a Tard in one yet, but Im pretty sure they are Tard friendly.

If they arent, itll be the shape of the pin, in which case Ill have some Tard friendly pins made up...

I have a concern, what is stopping someone from putting a chock under the wheel and using a spanner, to undo the dyna bolt? I know that it will wind up, but if you put chocks under the metal bracket, you can just pull it off the dyna bolt. Then all you have to do is put the back wheel on skateboard to the van. It does stop a qucik theft, but it wont take long to remove.

A better design, i believe, is the conventual style where you have a solid mounting bracket, with a loop. Over this loop you put a plate that covers the nut and is held in place when you put the chane through the loop.
i think the pic makes explains what i am talking abouthttp://street-bikes.ridegear.com/store/graphics/large/kryptoanchor.jpg

Sibbo,

I see what your saying, but this unit uses a countersunk allen bolt - meaning you need to get the allen key into the head of the bolt... when the rim is locked in, it is extremely dificult.

You can add a shoe arrangement, basically a piece of U section that has holes on the flanges to sit in before the bike then insert the rod...
Can't get to the bolts at all.. Up yours Sibbo, ya friggin thief!

It looks like Ill be taking orders on these units before they are finished (as Ive had good interest in them on 'another' site)...

Anyone who wants more info on them, or thinks they may want one, let me know so I can count you in...

Itll make it easier for me to order the right number :)
