Does anybody know anything about the kawasaki d-tracker machine and how likely it is to get one in Australia?

G'Day Dannyred,

I dont like your chances this year, but maybe next as Suzuki will have the DRZ-SM out here so I have been told, and Kawasaki wont want to miss out on market share...

Hopefully we get a real version, not the knobled one they get o/s with the CV carb and lower compression (boo!). Seems like the kwakasaki has a fairly small disc tho :-k

Thats a bummer. I'm thinking that buying something which comes as a motard from the factory or something that somebody has already set up will be a cheaper proposition than buying a bike and converting it. In saying that though how does a Kawasaki KLX250 rate in the motard world.

Just chuck some road tyres on it as it is and see for yourself.

if you search for some info, you will find heaps of Japan only (well not Australian) motard dirt bikes. It is amazing and they have been around for years, why do we missout on everything good?

Also, Italy has road legal kwaka KX250, just like our Yam YZ250WR, but been around for longer.

During the 70's SuperTT series in the U.S.A a lot of racers rode XR styled street bikes that were either street bike based or MX, usually MX..
I've been building motard styled bikes since 1980 Sibbo, after riding flat trackers, it seemed a natural progression as I also rode a 'Lightning Bolt' A4 KX 450 on the road then...
Modded dirtbikes have been big in the custom circles more so than actual motorcycle circles in Asia for years too...

my dad had a road legal kx250, but got done for trying to outrun the cops, so he got rid of it.
