As we have a few different bikes and wheel combo's gracing our folds,
I thought I might start a thread of pictures of wheels and let everyone post in a picture of different combinations to help out the newbies.
These are a few I have pictures of apart from the standard Talon combo's that someone will no doubt post up shortly.
Feel free to post a picture of the wheels currently fitted to your bike,
If they are 'out of the norm',
How you fitted them etc.

Maybe availability and ball park price too Muzz?

Sure why not Devo,
The more info that we can accumulate in this thread regards wheels and fitments the better.
That goes for stock OEM SM setups that are purchased as 'accessories' too I suppose as the price can vary ;)

The blokes who have purchased rims through here and specifically as 'sample stock' need only post pictures and details regards the fitment as pricing is between each of you and me only as discussed ;)

You have other colours as well though haven't you Shane,
Show us them badboys mate,
And seeing Alpina are sponsoring Stratton Motorsports in the BSMC this year,
Can you give us an insight into using them in comparison to your CRF setup remembering not everyone would know of the benefits of being tubeless :?:
If they are around $AU2500 there would be no doubt some fellas tempted to purchase these over maybe a Talon/Excell set or Dymags...

you know you dont have to ak me twice for pics muzz :D :D

when you read an add for tubeless wheels , the first thing they go on about is weight , well you dont notice it at   . what you do notice is when it comes time to change tires , you can change both front and back alpina's in the time it takes to do one tubed wheel . doesnt sound such a big deal but when its race day and there are 4 bikes in you pit it means a hell of a lot :) :) . all the bike have spare wheels but they have wets fitted up so you still need to change tires on all the bikes at some time during the day. you may get away with one front but you will use at least 2 rears , so time saving is worth a lot 8) 8) 8)

now for that pic :D :D

There are also Marchesinin SM forged alloy mags.
I will post a pic soon but not a price as most of you rotters are too damn tight arsed to buy them. ;)

For the price of the Husky ones from R&D in Mardi Gras land it's almost worth buying a pair and MAKING them fit.

How do you go for balance on the Alpinas Shane?
Do you blokes worry about balancing at all though,
The tyres would be pretty good and there is only the valve weight really to throw it off.

For my old yz250 I bought my rims off Muzz and had them laced to the original hubs. The lacing cost about $375 from memory. They are now shod in the ubiquitous Avon Distanzias. This route was definately the cheapest option for me as I'm happy to have the bike set up as a dedicated supermoto. If you want a rim stripe buy some pinstripe from Autobarn or similar for $10.

we balance the standard wheels with wets fitted , but the Alpina's are so close its not worth doing it .
one thing that is do is wheel bearings and dust covers every time the wheels come off , both are cleaned and checked . the spindle is cleaned with brake clean also then a light coat of wd40 , no grease as its creates to much friction and slows them spinning , if the pads are back you can spin our front wheel and they just dont stop .then we pump the brakes up and spin them again if they arnt as free the calipers come off and are stripped and cleaned , drag equals Hp .......................

or more than 30 years, Marchesini has been the leading manufacturer of motorcycle wheels. Taking advantage of its market-leading technology and experience in forged aluminum, Marchesini is proud to debut an alternative to conventional spoke rims+the new Supermotard wheel+to the general public. Integrating the wheel design used by the most successful teams in MotoGP and World Superbike. Compared to spoke wheels, Supermotard mags offer a 110 percent improvement in rigidity and a 35 percent weight and inertia reduction per set. This remarkably improves a motarderŠs stability under braking, in tight corners and when quickly flipping directional changes. These wheelsets come in 3.5 x 16.5 front and 5.0 x 17 rear sizes. Due to their unique design, wheel/tire temperatures reach optimum heat quicker, ensuring the best grip in all conditions. Their tubeless technology and antivpuncture systems eliminate use of inner tubes, their spokes require no maintenance between races. As if these benefits werenŠt enough to seal the deal, the mags install easier, and in most cases, give extra space for upgraded brake systems.

I had heard the Alpinas were extremely good for balance from the Factory and that the rim quality is fantastic.
