My grips were cactus, so today I stuck on the essential mod that all big tough motard riders need.

New poofy heated handgrips  :D

Of course they gave me all the wiring except for what I need to run into the ignition harness on the bike itself  But that can wait for a bit longer, but I needed to get the new grips stuck on as the old ones were smearing themselves allover my gloves :P

They are just a set of elements that you stick on to the bar/throttle tube and then slide a normal set of grips over. I've never been much of a fan of grip glue (which seems to just make a mess and then go hard and not work anyway) so I just lockwired the grips on which seems fine for the moment.

Reasonably priced at about $60, they have 2 heat settings (as well as 'off' of course) so it'll be interesting to see how they work. With them plus the barkbusters hopefully I won't loose all feeling in my hands during the middle of winter during the cold, cold commute late at night like last year :D

Ooh, You friggin' girl!
Seriously, Tania just read this and stated, (apart from you being a poof) that maybe I should get some for my arthritic claws,.. that wish they were hands in the winter :( ...

Can only be a good thing - I got mine from VSM (?) in sydney and they were $60 including shipping ... their phone number is (02) 6721-0610 ... hopefully I won't get any of the wiring caught up in my panties

Just an update given Q's recent interest ... got them wired up, easy as pie, and mounted the high/low/off switch on the instrument bracket I made up to raise the height of the trailtech.

They work well, but I'm going to re-do the left hand one properly by getting another throttle side grip, building the bar up with duct tape and putting the element around that. Reason being is that the one on the right goes on the throttle tube which is far better insulated than the one on the left, which spends half its time warming up the renthal bar

But even still, they do work great

But you'll hate riding a bike without them from then on  ;)

Guess who'll be smiling on their way to work when its 10 degrees and pissing rain :D

Ok, neither of us, but at least I'll be marginally less pissed off

Christ Neil, Friggin tape under ya grips? Heard of heat shrink? Even though the grip is heated it will be damn fine insulator from the bar, to make it adhere to the bar if it turns a thin smear of 'quik grip' will do. :D
