There are some pics of the Wodonga Track day...
Nice air shots of a couple of us, Danno, Sibbo and I.
The cameraman couldn't bring himself to photograph Neil's level of pain...
'How would you like those nuts Sir?'.. Crushed.

I think I was doing a more passable impression on the second session, but I'm sure the first session was far more amusing for all spectating
I just moved the photos up to the end of the existing folder. Don't seem to have the full sized one of sibbo though :-k If you can email it to me I'll sort it out on the server though muzz

i do believe that roady http://www.supermotard.com.au/web_galleries/Wodonga200305/pages/Roady_750x563.htm is the highest, hang on thats me. So you 17in clad fast riding boys cant get high off the jump!!! Or is that something to do with you riding heavy 4 strokes?

If you look at how far danno is from the ramp and his attitude, I think he might well have you beat had the camera gone off half a second earlier
What's with the torpedo like angle of attack? I thought I had a monopoly on that!

Neil, Didn't know there was a contest for highest off the ramp. I remember we had a tipping on who was the slowest.. and Sibbo won that  Given the Berg's acceleration off the corner, I should have been 'up there' even for a slug of a 4-stroke. Just wait Sibbo, the older you get, the more strokes you want and need to get the job done. :D
Neil, did you go over that jump? If so I want to see a pic from about 20 meters further down the road afterwards. :snigger:

For the record Brett probebly did do the biggest jump. Motocrossers are set up to do bigger jumps, get better launches, and go bigger distances also they "should" explode out of the corner better (maybe not on this particular occation) which is why all the best supercross riders in the world use 2 strokes.
Still to me though it looks like he did go bigger.

You mustn't have seen me pass him at least twice off the jump then, eh Ash?...
Oh, and pass him at any point I like, except when he was doing the 'block the line with a endo' thingy!
But he can come again anyway, we get another chance to whip a 2 stroke then!

Yes I did Cal, and I have the bruised bollocks to prove it!

:prayer: Still to me though it looks like he did go bigger.
You mustn't have seen me pass him at least twice off the jump then, eh Ash?...well you had a little bit more rubber down on the road, which allowed you to open the throttle when you were leant over, which i could not do. So wait till i have some ability to put the power down and well, im not making claims, but im gonna kick your ass :booty:
danno
13-04-2005, 06:18 PM
So Ash, what you are saying is that Sibbo on a 250 2-stroke with skinny tyres that did not allow him to get full power down out of the tight right-hander prior to the jump would have (because it is a 2-stroke and they are the choice of motocrossers) out-jumped a 650 motard specific bike with 20 more hp and bags more torque
I have some land to sell, it is a bit wet (alright then swampy), but there are a couple 2-stroke motocross guys that are interested in it... hurry if you want some of the action as they are use to getting what they want.

If you read what I wrote again it says in relation to the power and grip "maybe not on this particular occation"!!
But I stand by what I say the best "supercross riders" in the world use 2 strokes for the power type and weight.
In relation to the jump a motocrosser will out jump a motard, motards are a compromise, that is why we love them!! A motocross bike isn't![/b]

So if danno put the knobbie wheels on would that mean its suddenly a fire spitting, jump taking demon? ;)

No Neil, It would mean that them 'Koala-Coaters' would still be eating 4 stroke roost...

650 motard specific bike with 20 more hp and bags more torque
come on, you dont have over 76 hp :!: :!: or are you implying the YZ250 has only 40hp?
The thing about jumping is in the suspension valving and spring rates, also the lower weight in a two stroke helps it leap off any jump/out of any corner. By changing the wheels on the 650 nothing will change, the suspension valving will have to be done and also 15kg will need to be removed (from the bike!!!). If that was done, well i might ride one, as long as i could buy one for less than $10K.

Na Sibbo, the Berg has 60hp as per dyno at the rear wheel. If I read correct, you are saying your 250 has 56hp.
It bemuses me to see these hypothetical discussions when no one actually thought to measure the jump on the day. As it stands, both Sibbo and Ash are against using 4 strokes for anything serious, especially motard riding. I guess I wasted my well-earned buying something that at best is a compromise eh Ash.
I tell you what, you guys win. and I might as well take my toy(s) and go play elsewhere.

Don't get the wrong idea mate, I ride a 4 stroke motard as well and I think the broad power is fantastic (although it makes me lazy) when I say compromise I mean it has to work on asphalt and jumps (usually small) so it's never going to be as good at jumping as a motocrosser, however it will be faster on asphalt than a motocrosser. I didn't get into the power debate co's when it comes to power to weight, who know's I was only talking about delivery really.
Not saying your dyno is not right, but with my experiance with a car (one dyno said 200kwatw the other said 150kwatw and then it said 180kwatw a couple of months later.) is that to really compare you need to put all the bikes on the dyno on the same day to see who has the power!! I have no doubt that your bike hauls and probebly has the most power mate. I'm not trying to take that away.
I didn't mean to offend you mate and I appologise if I did :)
PS I know I can't spell!!

14-04-2005, 10:30 PM
Btw the 650 berger is probably the most powerful motard you can buy with cash money short of a husky 630 full race jobbie. Depending on dyno typically 60-65hp at the back wheel 8)
I was one ... I just need someone else to maintain it!

Yeah, Well fuck all that shit, how many of you threw a trick on the day?
Mmmm, Neil did just to get over the friggin' thing, and I did a 'no footer' in the second session!

Face it, both 2 stroke and 4 stroke suck, both motocross and pure motard suck. My push bike puts out more horsepower, and it would go further on that steel jump thingie

Umm, so can someone actually enlighten me as to what a "natural dirt section" actually is then? Does that mean that you prefer "unnatural" acts??
No, seriously, wozzit all about? :-k
Muzzard
15-04-2005, 08:54 AM
Natural terrain is just as the name implies Neil, a dirt section that doesn't have huge mounds of dirt dumped on it resembling a supercross track...
Sibbo
15-04-2005, 09:55 AM
danno, i did not mean to offend, i was just stating what i believed to be the facts. suspension settings, weight, hp.
but shit, you kicked my ass, so why would you be bothered?
two strokes still kick ass :D

like Muzz said, natural terrain is just that natural terrain nothing added.
Like the old thumpercross used to be.

Sibbo and Ash, Got it.. my way too sensitive side came out and there was a fleeting moment of seeing my feminime side (damn those X chromososmes) :chainsaw: :chainsaw:
So guys, Bairnsdale I expect to see some 2-stroke smoke and dead koala's as I blister past on my P.O.S. sweeeed'
Speaking of natural terrain, have you guys ever tried brazilian terrain? :D :finga:

If you put oversize spokes in like everyone else and of course fit some tyres!
Why, You going for the record for motard jump?.. Go on step up and ramp to ramp it!

I used to do big distance jumps on my DH bike (funny that mt bikes have been brought up) and I did a massive air and got blown by a freak gust of wind off the track that I was doing the jump on and ended up in the bush some 5 to 10 metres from where I was supposed to be, and I haven't done it since. I hit a tree and was very lucky not to impale myself on a fallen branch in the scrub!!
However if I can get more time on the MX bike again, I may start trying to do some gaps, but I have a bit of work to do. I have still done bigger jumps on a MT bike and a snow board!!

Theres a couple of super large natural terrain jumps up in the bush near Eldorado that I have been sussing out for a while...
I want to do it on the mootard and shoot it with video for site download...
Jump is about 120' and over a creek line, I havent jumped the mootard that far in natural terrain before, but ramp to earthen bank, done a few 85' gaps at my mates 'compound'.

Once leasing land again locally, will be building a dirt track with some big earth ramps that will be worthy of the odd motard lap...
And I'll let you bring your YZ too!
