...cont from Rec licence thread,..
It would be a real hard bike to catch as the engine would provide generous torque and good HP at the higher RPM range.
Weight would be an issue obviously as the engine and drive are not of unit construction...
So next Idea,.. Neil suggested a binned TL1000 and I like TL1000's! Strip all the unnecessaries off, fit up some sweet gold coated USD's ex-Gixxer 1K, and a mean set of 'Oh so fucking loud' underseat upsweeps to give it to everyone with friggin' ears! Make up some BIG Talons, some fat bars, bling paintwork and presto,. MEAN MOTARD!
I was originally going to put my arse and that of the missus on a new FZ6 naked. But being country based a motard is the most obvious decision. Flashes of Orange were there in the form of a new LC4 or LC8 more to the point, but the LC8 is over priced and the LC4...Mmmm, still on the option list...
Search criteria: Pillion capable from Factory.
Good Ergo's
High hoon ability and excessive levels of bling
at glance
Be Wife friendly/Pleasing.

The New Husky 450's and 510's have pillion pegs. (don't tell my misses!!!!)
I've got some supper light weight mufflers that look bling bling (under 1 kg) coming!! They might suit.
TL's are wheelie machines!! Put this in a motard type frame what a pisser, maybe a custom carbon fibre chassis with titanium, mmmm I'm getting carried away but I have a few good idea's :D

Well that puts another marque into the mix Ash...
I'm only getting off the WRF to suit Tanias willingness to join in really. Its not pillion orientated and she is not skilled enough to ride with us yet. She has for 10 years been an integral part of my motorcycling and in particular pillion, and has covered more miles on the back of my old XT685 Racer than most blokes would have ridden.. Long miles like from Wagga to Melbourne and return in the day around 1200KM without visiting relatives all over town. So deservedly she gets some creature comfort, like a seat that isn't like riding a plank.
Mind you I aint letting her see Neils Aprilia though...

To quote a friend who had to be carried on the back of my aprilia once ... "that was the scariest ride of my life....."
Ok, so the TL has a very nice donk, why not stick it in a frame that can do it justice? Unfortunately my comp is down for the moment until I reinstall every fuken thing, but I have a couple of nice pics of a TL motor in a chrome molly frame with a CNC machined swingarm casting that was made by a guy up in NSW who was also into supermonos............. 8)

Btw, I get what you mean about bikes and tania muzz - it's extremely rare to find a lady that actually 'gets' fellas and their bikes. Its an extraordinarily rare commodity, and one worth hanging on to with both hands

Shes reading over my shoulder and blushing...
The TL hybrid idea sounds good. I would almost forego my daily ride to build a decent bike again.
Might have to do the wrecker search thingy for a price on a good used TL engine and assorted other necessaries while in Melbourne next week...
Wont stop me riding a few anyway  Better to use their fuel around town than mine boys!

You could do the standard frame thing as long as you junked the rear damper I reckon. The front forks on them and the gixxers are supposed to be the ducks nuts apparently, similar valving to ohlins, etc etc. And the standard seat is luxurious, I tells ya! 8)

My next door neighbour is asking his brother in W.A if he wants to sell his low, low, mileage TL...
Otherwise, hard to get now. :(

My Miss's is into the cars more than the bikes she grew up on bikes (sort of forced into it) so she can ride alright. She does come out with me on my YZ in the dirt but she would prefere a road bike.
When I race 4 wheels she is always there with out fail. She loves it, she even races aswell when the money allows it.
Some of us are lucky hey Muzz :)

with regard to the road bike as motard, i will try and find a pic i have of a Suzuki SV650 done up as an enduro bike with long travel susp, mx seat and tank and all the usual plastics, but still with the same frame. it does look a bit different, but cool.
