Ok.

As previously discussed let's have a Spurs and district ride on (now edited to) Monday the 12th of March. Labour day long weekend.
It has to be done whilst the climate is still good before the drought
breaks. :)

Who's in?
I suggest an early start out Ringwood way as usual.

Let's get a decent ride with a decent turn out on the best roads in Vic before the weather turns to shit. Something that we can all rave about for the next few months. :D

Further edit: General consensus. 5 or 6 am. To be advised.

Cheers,
Juz....

Will you guys pike if I say 6 am?

I'm open to suggestions and we can change it but a lack of traffic is good as you saw in Jorn's thread. A lack of some of the other obvious obstacles is also handy. ;)

Back in my squid days we used to start those rides at 5am... But I was younger then, lol.

It also means you are back at midday or before and have the rest of the day to attend to other household matters.

I'll work out the rough Km's Zulu and let you know.

Juz.

I can't say I have ever had a shit ride up that way.
Except for pulling a few squid bikes back up the edge of the road at Reefton but let's not go there, everyone here has too much talent for that kind of "fun". ;)

I have to fark off now and finish my washing or I'm going commando at the island all weekend. Might be good if it's hot, not good if the Suzuki girls in those short skirts are on the next stand! ;)
If Mondays the go I will edit the title of the thread reflecting it to the following day after I get back from PI.

I have done similar things and you ride for a good couple of hours before seeing your first bike.

No bikes (non-motards), no cops, no cars, no worries, just fresh road to carve up. And the roadies that are up there can be the serious fast guys that are good to ride with, not the wankers (a'la my road bike mates) that think they are good.

I had a ball today and thanks to everyone envolved for helpin me when i ran out of fuel (its still your fault neil , if i did'nt have to have the throttle open to the stops all day keepin up it would have been fine ha)
A few of those roads that i had never been on (thanks neil again) were awesome fun , and the last one on the way home that turned to dirt was great fun fishtailin everywhere. And well done nick on the 250roadie on the dirt section and keepin up all day.
Oh and big thanks to Juz for the tools, and markee for kickin my bike back into life and neil for the fuel (first time) and Nick (second roadside fuel stop)

We had a great ride today.
Neil, Mark, Kyle, Nick & I assaulted the hills with a 5:30am dark start for some of us. I got home just after 4pm so I can hardly walk, I have a bad case of motard arsitis.
Totally without incident too other than 2 of us running out of fuel!
The early start meant empty roads which was excellent over both the spurs.
Thanks to Nick for his help with getting fuel so we could get mobile again.
A well deserved break & counter meal in Warburton and then exploring some previously unexplored roads was heaps of fun.
Bomber640 piked before it started at 2:53am with a text message stating that he had pulled a root and at his (our) age that's more important than a group ride. Good on ya bomber, lol. ;)
I have not had that much fun up the hills in years.
It would be good to get a few more of these rides in with a few more numbers before the good dry warmth turns to cold miserable wet Melbourne winter misery.
Cheers,
Juz.

Hmmm, maybe a photo diary might b on the cards next time, because you'd never believe me if I told you... a few snippets - far too much to drink, latin dancing, outraged bosnians, girls fighting, abandoned by friends, no pants, girls school boarding dormitory, lost credit cards, stumbling around the streets of hawthorn with no cigarettes or money and a flat phone battery, and when I finally got home my housemate had just about finished hoovering down all the weed. In hindsight I probably should have gone to bed early and carved up the streets with you guys, but, as they say 'yer get that on the big jobs...'
