Phark, i'm out :x Was wondering why my clutch was starting to get slop in it and just noticed this morning that its starting to fray again, big time :? So rode around today in traffic without using it apart from at the lights. I think i'll rip it off tomorrow morning and try and sort out a replacement, but it'll probably need to be ordered in damnit. So might pull off the wheels and tyres and get them out to the wheel bloke to fit up the new rims next week.

Wobbly
13-01-2007, 02:42 AM
Actually, probably easier just to borrow his whole bike rather than just the cable :D
Flash
13-01-2007, 09:04 AM
Hey Neilwe need to look at the way it's routed! I have heard they are very particular on the cable routing. I'm still on the original, but it's not the standard routing!
Wobbly
13-01-2007, 12:20 PM
The routing looks good - its pretty much a straight shot right into the holder, over the top of the brake line (though the brake line is rubbing on the headlight cowling :? ). How is yours routed?
SMC690
13-01-2007, 12:22 PM
Yeah, when someone asks to borrow my bike I usually tell them to get routed too. ;)

MarkeeMark
14-01-2007, 07:29 PM
Ok here it is Muzz.
Up early, Buelligan and Juz meet at mine, minus one orange katoom to Jager and Red Bull. :P
Off to Bikemart, meet with a one GPX 250 and a Gixer thous, we're off!
Out to Healsville, stop for juice and obligatory chit chat the off to the Black Spur.
Myself, Juz, and Gixer gone!!!!!!!!!!!! perfect weather stuff all traffic :D
Buelligan aka Flames and GPX folllow.
We wait at turn off for Warbarton for them but nothing for 10+ mins, u-turn and 2mins down the road they're coming the opposite way, more u-turns and we're all heading the same direction to Marysville. 8)
Get into town stop for coffee and Flames drops the bomb, he came off! hence the 10+minute wait
So he's fine save for a little bit of blood on the knees but the buell isn't, still rideable but a big dent in the frame/tank, bent brake lever and more than a few scratches. Pride not good either but he'll live.
From this we decided to have some lunch then head back and not do Reefton. So back to Healsville, slowly for Flames, and cautious for the rest of us. Flames headed home to get to work and we went off down Chum Creek then to Kinglake, Juz can fill in what happened here. Nothing to him but his bike came up with a liittle problem.
Home we went thru to Whittlesea and back to town for a few quiet ones at Justin's.
I then went to see Flames at his work, he's fine bit of a headache but has had time to think and clean up. He's pissed but ok about it all. Calling insurance 2moro, I'll keep you posted.
All up good company, great weather, good roads and mostly good riding.
Can't wait for next time. :D

Hmmm. The riding was good, I had a ball, but..............
Not the happiest day in the end.
The 2 month old Buell became a victim of the black spur only 5 corners in on the way over in the morning. Good old Flames is as tough as nails and jumped back on as she was still rideable but it changed our plans none the less and we didn't tackle Reefton.
I blew my base gasket on the way back over the Black Spur after Morning Tea/Lunch trying to round/keep up withthe litre bikes and the chance of getting that repaired under warranty before the end of summer is almost nil.
I will ring around Monday, I need a new dealer, I can't wait fucking 6 weeks just for a service like I am at the moment. I booked it in two weeks ago and still have to wait until the 19th Feb which is unacceptable. If it had been serviced I dare say this would not have happened. But then again would they have serviced it properly and retentioned the base anyway?!?
That put's me out for this Saturday on the bike.
I will be there in the ute anyway to spectate. :)
And I thought 'Bergs were unreliable. :(

Bugger, that's the second ktm base gasket to go from people on this site :( Sorry to hear mate, but thankfully should not be a big dollar job at least.

And I wouldn't give up on the warranty side either, especially with mention of knowledge of another bike having done the same under warranty and the exposure of such online...
SMC690
14-01-2007, 07:41 PM
Yeah, it happens.
I have seen a few done through were I used to work.
It's certainly not the first LC4 to do it.
It was the turn off to Marysville we waited for them and then decided to start riding back over the Black to find out where they had gone as we didn't do the Warburton way this time for a change.
So yeah, we can blame it all on James on the Gixxer thou, it was his idea to go that way. :)
Bloody non Motard riders. ;)

Oh yeah, Forgot to mention my arse is so sore I have to lie on my stomach to watch tv tonight.
I wish they made a comfort seat for my bike, I must be getting old.
No, I didn't have my head stuck in the rack at the Blue Oyster bar last night either, you are thinking of the other bloke, the one with the combover and the gimp mask. ;)

Bummer Justin.
I would be on to KTM about the warranty repair all the same.
There are other KTM dealers and just how fast you could get it repaired if there were one here ready to do the work, would remain to be seen. ;)
I honestly haven't found any worth a great deal in Victoria in relation to this type of thing/warranty work.

Fuckinell Juz, that's a real shame to hear about the bike (I don't care about your ass gasket!), mine's going to see the local dealer this week to get the countershaft sprocket seal seen to, I'm going to ask about LC4s and base gaskets.
Bad news about the Buell - It's got to be an insurance write off, those things don't take well to crashing - even falling off the sidestnad can scratch/dent the frame or swingarm and that's enough for an insurance company to write it off.

Now you can get down to making your KTM into a real mans bike, like the one below.....its about as manly as a KTM can get.

Bloody hell Sibbo, where do you get these pictures from!?!
That's just wrong.
Up until now I thought a 'Pink Adventure' was the name of a porn flick.
Yes Paul, I believe it will be very close to a write off on the Buell, frame was toast, as was the bottom of one of the forks and also the swingarm was marked. Those parts alone plus the labour to remove everything including the motor and stick it in the new frame and swingarm should see it past half the value of a new bike.
Update on bike repairs for me, I have called a dealer and they can have both the servicing done and the warranty work done by the end of next week. They are also happy to install my slipper. Whoot!

If you want it written off, take it to A1, I believe they are dodgy enough to do the job, even if its not due.

Sure you did Sibolina.
We all believe you.

Justin,
Judging by your waiting times, Im guessing your dealing with an inner eastern melbourne suburb dealer.
I was disappointed in this too and found an outer western suburb dealer to be able to book me in within 3 days of a call and get the bike back to me within another 3 for a major service. Even when I flipped it, and needed to replace plastics and subframe, didnt make much of a difference - an extra day I think. I find them freindly and give good advice too. Not trying to promote or demote any dealers here, but if the above hints arent good enough, PM and ill let you know.
