View Full Version : Sleeving a master cylinder

Anyone know someone who would sleeve a master cylinder and machine the piston and replace seals to suit? I'm thinking of taking my 16mm brembo down to 15 to get some more leverage on the brake to better suit the new front calliper. 16mm is clearly too large as it takes a herculean effort to yank on the brake to get it to work still, and 13mm is way too small, but there aren't many 14/15mm options out there.

Ash suggested trying a car brake place, but not sure if they would be as familiar with the design and seal arrangement, even though they are pretty basic little devices. Anyone tried this? Or have other recommendations? :-k

Factory teams are known for doing this, they use the STD cylinder then change the id. This way everyone thinks they are the std parts.

Neil, any competent machine shop will be able to do this for you, all of the ones I know of are near Braeside/Cheltenham which is not exactly close to you. I can recommend WD Toolmaking in Cheltenham (03) 9584 2196, speak to Wayne and tell him what you want (He's a motorcyclist), grab some seals from your local Pirtek or similar and they will machine to suit.

I broke down and ordered an expensive one instead. Well, actually, not that expensive, thanks to a certain person ;) :D
