i'm thinking to have the cheaper version of sm fun
with 21" and 18" plus street tyres

i'm thinking to put on a oversize disc
do ya think the 320mm would be overkill??

or just normal off rd oversize do??

:?:

Just an offroad oversize (280mm) would probably do pretty good... Ash has one on his YZ, so he could chime in here....

Yep, I have one on my 125 When I take it for a burn on the street it does fine. I don't think you'll generate enough grip to warrant a 320.
Don't spend the cash first tryit and see it you have problems I dobt you will. :)

Unless you intend on putting Rossi back on the trailer a stock sized rotor would be damn fine for the level of adhesion that is had coupled to a small contact patch offered by 90/90-21's or equivalent tyre sizes...
A 320 would put you on your arse pretty quick with cold tyres or limited grip through atmospheric/track condition...
Save the cash, just ride, ride, ride... :D

i would go for something larger than stock. This is because when I had the road rubber of the yz, for some stunting, I was required to use more than 2 fingers after multiple 4th and 5th gear stoppies (just stopping from that speed, not hoisting the back from that speed!). The heat in the disk was...well....um....i did not touch it again! I could feel the heat from a reasonable distance away.

When I was up at reefton with it, i did not have any brake problems, so it depends on what riding you will do.

The grip from the 21 inch tyre good, with only one lockup on cold tyres with the back in the air. It could handel much more braking force.

Comparing my brakes to the brakes on the SMR450 (big, dont know size prob around 300 {ash exact size}, well they cant be compared. The improvment is huge, so I say go big!!!320 is the way to go if you want to pay for it.
