Are there any other Tards from Sydney wanting to go for a half day weekend road blat in the near future?
Tried & true run starting in Hornsby, through galston gorge  , out to wisemans ferry, then back down the old road to sydney.
any takers?
I will be keen when i get the tard back, the "bullet proof" XR took a bullet at the track on the weekend and just went to the bike doctor for repairs. Looks like a conrod or crank bearing has seized.
Let you know when i get it back.

Cool.
As it happens i'm still waiting on a clutch cable for the mighty DRZ, but its good to know others are keen round here.
My mate mike (drz) will be up for it too.
Give us a yell when the XR's feeling fit again tom & we'll sort a day

Bugger Tom :(
The mechanic reworded his previous "bullet proof" comments and now says that once you start making 65 rwhp you can only expect 5000 to 10000 k's from a con rod in an XR, BUT when it goes it usually just siezes and doesn't blow up the engine, hence the bullet proof part.

Any Sydneysiders up for a ride this Saturday? I was planning on meeting a mate at Road Warriors for breakfast, then head up the old road to Cessnock mainly on back roads, across to Wollombi, then back to Sydney. There are lots of options for getting back from Wollombi. It's mostly on tar. Just a few short dirt stretches.
My mate rides an xr400, not tarded, so there longer dirt roads as an option. He used to race enduros. I've almost got him convinced to buy an xr650 tard on the notice board at road warriors.
For a longer ride last weekend, we did a side trip out to putty road to ride the tighter sections at the northern end. Makes it a full day trip that way.
Sorry, still haven.t got my bike back yet.

We were thinking of meeting up at road warriors around 8.30 to 9.00. If it doesn't suit you just let me know.

I should be getting it back next week, i'm still hoping to make it to the circuit breakers race at Eastern creek on 21 January. If not i'll definately be at the st george race in February.
Will you be racing?

My mate Mick couldn't get a set of tyres sorted for tomorrow, so he can't make it. I'm still up for a ride if you still want to go. I don't know the back roads as well as Mick does, but shouldn't be too much trouble finding my way. Not sure about the weather though. Looks like it'll be a bit damp tomorrow. What do you think?

Don't worry about it. It gave me a chance to get to know the back roads alot better. Normally I just follow Mick around. He's the local. We'll just have to do it another time, with hopefully a few more riders. :) C'mon guys! And there are heaps of tard friendly firetrails around there to slide around on.
just saw this thread now and you wana organise another run id definatly be up for it :P
