OK,
After a lengthy telecon today with Daryl, I am happy to inform you all that we are firstly OK to run the December track day on the 16th.
This is of course so we can get together for the Christmas breakup and Meet/greet Shane making the trip from Thailand during the same week.
For those not already aware,
Shane is the current Thailand Open Supermoto Champion, recently crowned and given the Number 1 plate and a trophy he had to get an elephant to bring home.
There have been generous offers from withing VSMR to afford a bike for Shane to ride on the day, no doubt all of ours by the end.

We have been handed a Golden Gift with the association firstly with Braxton for giving us the chance to prove ourselves, and even more so now with Daryl being a long time motorcyclist himself, a man with vision for Sport, and for the venue he now controls.
I commented to him regards the grounds and the pictures from the weekend are a good indicator that together we are certainly on the same page.
In relation to a new track layout,
This will be discussed at length between Daryl and myself at the next track day (25th/11/06) but the initial indicator is we will be having a working bee in January like I have already said in other threads, and that will be the start of your new dirt section!
So before you all start asking,
Yes again, that means 2 dirt sections ;)
There is a lot of work before that happens but I thought I would at least confirm we are going big!
I will be relying heavily now for support from within here,
So if you say something I am going to hold you to it,
Understand that now!
Price increase is good for us in every way and I will elaborate on that later.
Daryl has already spent considerable time cleaning up the site and I will be repairing the fencing very shortly around the pits where it has been bent and become unlaced from the structure.
The Cafe area is now revamped and more is underway now.
We have been given a thumbs up for the continuing attempt to keep the site tidy, for your behaviour as a group was also commended, as was the sweeping of the litter from the racing lines, showing consideration for others.
Well Done to all those who have also had the pleasure of riding the GPTC under the VSMR banner.
I personally also thank you for the efforts expended by what I consider my friends.
Thankyou.
It is shaping up to be a successful year all round for Motard in Victoria,
A great future in 2007 with a partnership in spirit with GPTC,
The Incorporation of the Club as a legal entity,
Possibly some racing under a VSMR banner for some of us,
The website still meeting the needs of the new and the not so new
and with a revitalised format to curb the outages,
And the possibilty of a National Motard Riders Register with State autonomy to each relevant State and ability to run racing at local level.
So in summary really,
All I can say is due to the commitment and professionalism displayed by the people coming from within here we have a healthy future for both the road & social scene as well as a good chance of longevitity within the new revitalised GPTC, a new longer dirt section to add to the one we already use, if we continue on keeping on....
Roll on 2007 and grouse weather!

That's excellent news muzz. I'm sure you'll have quite a few people voulenteering to help out, and a working bee in January would definately be a good idea, and I'm quite sure the many of us that enjoy the use of the facilities will jump at the chance to help out, not to mention ensure that we get the facilities that we are after ;)

So you can definately stick me down for working on the non-track day weekends in the new year and can probably get some time off if others can during the week as well

I appreciate the offers for assistance and Mark (Markee Mark)
has also already put his hand up to help whenever workloads allow.
He was one of the first to ask weeks ago whether he could be of assistance, and in fact did ask me at the same time about the possibility of an dirt section where the old MX track is.
Well that looks like being real good, with a view to entering and exiting the new section at the end of the right hander where we now come onto the straight running anticlockwise (normal) direction, and reenter after the dirt in line to run up the straight after the jump transition from dirt to tar, to help dump dust and debris before entering the racing line again.
This will give us a more specific Supermoto Track without having to interfere with the karting and pocket bike enthusiasts too.
Depending on the amount of fill that is already on site that we are able to utilise, there will be at least a decent table top style jump and maybe a stepup with a small jump just before that can be doubled for the faster riders.
Daryls vision is on the same page as mine as far as making the GPTC the Home for Supermotard in Victoria, to showcase the Sport in as a professional atmosphere as possible, and the best place to recreationally enjoy your motorcycle.
Daryl is after speaking to him, a very driven man with plans that encompass the very nature of recreational motorcycling and to take that to a whole new level.

Thanks again fellas and already we have a handy little force to undertake some simple but still area enhancing activity in preparation for more expansive work like the dirt section.
As we become 'legal' in some way early next year, one of the first things will be onto my local member for one of many grants for permanent shade cover for recognised sporting clubs.
This can be acheived if Daryl was to offer us a contractual longevity and acceptance that we call the GPTC 'Home' for all intensive purposes.
This will in effect give us enough cash to enclose the pits with overhead skillion type carport. Not available to us until 'legal' (Inc Club) though.
Safety fencing is also on the agenda for me to discuss with the Department of Sport and Recreation Grants Department, to ensure a child proof entry exit to the track area, once again to help expidite the process and ease the cost and burden to Daryl.
There will be some marking out even if very basic, after the discussion with Daryl and this hopefully will be before the last Track Day for this year so we all have a goal, and I think its also a good chance for others to have input and come up with a design to suit the available area we get alloted for expansion.
That way we have some good input from all comers and tend to cater to the masses rather than the experienced rider we all assume a 'track' is suited to.
There is a lot of work to get here, and sometimes very frustrating work, waiting for social rides and no one shows up, going to the track and being the only one there, and with the mini's on the odd weekends to the motards to try to build profile to the juniors and show them there is life after pocket bikes and mini moto's, about 350 motard orientated emails a week.

I would do it all again to get the advantage we are now being offered.
;)

Great news Muzz. Everyone seems very enthusiastic.

Put my name down too. Although I will be overseas for the beginning of January, if I'm here, I'm available.

Would love to have you come and ride with us Coley.
I know about the lack of scene for you there mate.
Your almost on your lonesome.
Nigel was like that for a while before his move West and discovered the weather better and the motarding more active.
He was the only bike sold in Canberra motard prepped for ages, and used to rip up the Brindabellas and stick it to his old sport bike mates for a thrill fix.

Muzz this is fantastic news, exactly what most of us want to hear.
Like I said to you earlier my offer to help and have this baby grow into a giant and a leader in the Supermoto arena still stands and I will rally support from where ever I can.
I honestly haven't had as much fun on a bike as i did on the 11th of November, bar coming off and injuring my thumb.
So getting better and being able to ride on the 16th when Shane arrives is my priorty and also getting those few little extra's for the bike as well.
Cheers Markee Mark

PS. Muzz how's your knee going?

Muzzard
17-11-2006, 12:30 PM
Mark,
The knees gone down a bit more and is still pretty sore.
Wont make a shred of difference for the next 2 track days though thats for sure
See you next week then mate..
