Thanks to Steve (APA) a parcel van arrived at my house and brought in a box that he had posted a few days ago.
Inside the box was 3 bags containing 1 of each of his Catch bottle/Crankcase Containment/Coolant Bottle systems, a nice yellow exhaust slider and some stickers.
Unfortunately this afternoon I got bored and fitted the fuel containment catch bottling system to my WRF :D and some neat stickers to the sides of my fork legs next to the headlight unit so you can see them.
But once again I am in dilemma to get the best for Steve I need to get the product around more than just here in the Country.
Neil gets the next choice for whichever he would like for his new Husky,
I will give the slider to Brett, cause he is always crashing,
And the last one I will discuss with Neil and post who the lucky bugger is to score a free bottle system to fit to their bike.
I will post the pictures of my fitment tomorrow morning and bring the other components to the track day on the 11th...
There is also 2 sets of very good quality front guard stickers (1 curved, 1 straight) that are available for folks to affix to their bikes.
If you have no intention of leaving the stickers on for the advertising to help out Steve,
Please dont ask can you have them.
Brett will have to put his stickers somewhere prominent too for the start of his 'sponsorship' he has so long yearned for...

Very good quality Shane.
I made a different fitting to mount it only because of the deep ears on the long range Acerbis tank on my WRF made the placement difficult.
The mount I made is simple, a longer bolt with a alloy tube collar to space the bottle from the mount.
Generous in the supply of the tubing, in fact I have a couple of lengths left over, not that I incorrectly fitted it, but that he has not left you short like so many things like this that you buy, get home, go to fit, and find the fucking hoses are too short.
Not here matey! ;)
Nice heavy silicone soft hose, it doesn't kink easily, and I got spiffy racing red ones,
Sibbo will never pass me now!
We better send him over some stickers and a TShirt at least for his effort.
I like the size of the units, they are compact and neat, vulcanised with an alloy threadsert into the side, comes with good instructions inclosed and should be able to be easily fitted by an amateur...

OK after discussion with the Board of Directors,
Jovian has been awarded his choice of either an
APA Crankcase Containment System or an
APA Radiator Coolant Containment System.:D

Neil has decided to offer his unit (whichever is left) to Ash on the grounds that Ash rides everywhere on his motard, is a long standing member having made contribution, and aware of the need for exposure for Steve.
Besides Neil believes we need to treat the twins the same.
If one gets one thing, the others got to have something too.
Bretts got his slider, Ash has a catch bottle system.
No squabbling you 2  ...
Freebies means good behaviour and clean bikes...

Are the stickers big or small like the VSMR curved ones :-k I was thinking of puting it the rear guard to match the VSMR one there.

Thanks again Guys :D

Great, I cant wait to start testing the performance of the pipe slider.

My rear guard is clean without scratches (yet) or any other decals or crap, so it will be the perfect location for a bit of advertising. I will do a product report on it after the track day, in an attempt to be as prof. as possible.

Once again, thanks.

A sibbo is a strange, rarely seen creature that lurks in internet forums. They pop up from time to time posting pictures of naked chicks and enjoy ragging on 4 stroke engines while secretly going out and buying them ;)

Here's a picture I found of one snapped in its natural habittat of talking crap and trying to get freebies :lol2:

I need to place an order Mr. APA.
Should I PM you?
I have no credit card so I can only do Western or M/Order.

I need a Catch tank for FCR, I have the hose.
Also 2 sliders for me mufflers and anything else that tickles my fanny I see on your site.

I don't have to ride to work anymore which is good.
It looks like Vicroads may want to remove my licence from me for blindness issues. The feckers.
At the next track day I am going to 'ride it like I stole it' or as Shane says 'win it or bin it'.

How did they find out!? :?

If the doctor advises them.
He told me not to ride/drive for three months.
I turned up to the last appointment on that beautiful (NOT!) day last Wednesday saturating wet after riding in the rain & hail from Tulla to the Austin. He wasn't amused.
It was a sketchy ride over but I just let my tyres down a bit more. ;)
I have to see him every week at the moment so I'm trying to do a little social engineering and convince him not to advise them.

I thought it was crap as mofo's with glass eyes can drive can't they?
I had a look at the vicroads site but couldn't find any info.

I'll see how it plays out.

The quality is really good very happy with it. I am due to replace the radiator fluid so it works out perfect.

The instructions are clear and easy to follow, so it shouldn't be to much of a challenge for me and my keyboard hands

Thanks again Steve and Muzz, I think i will be making an order for the fuel system before race season next year. I will have some pics on the weeknd.

BTW - i think the blue and white VSMR sticker is the best of the lot, it stands out and gets the point across. Would look good in a large size that covered the whole fork protector.

No probs Jovian.
Happy but belated Birthday mate.
The stickers are pretty basic and thats why I wanted to go with something like that for the fork legs and posted a quick idea into the other thread for the stickers.
No one really added any input but Neil.
Its a piss easy thing to do really, and that was the second last one of them,
So need to think about something to include the web address as well.

I must say I am hugely thankful to get anything for nothing and I will do my best to talk to people about the slider and give them an honest review of it, how it performs, etc.

My bike always attracts a fair bit of attention where ever it goes, being rare exotica and all, so its not a bad bike to go on, cos everyone will see the slider, the slider will also get a work out, so what better bike to be on, cos it can be product tested.

I only charge $7.50 US for international postage. I am not sure what the exchange rate is between here and there.

If you go to the site and place your items in the shopping cart and go like you are finishing it will add the postage. There is a certain $$ point and the postage should start going down.

Hello, finally got the bike to a safe place and fitted the APA coolant system.

It was a fairly simple operation as the system comes with instructions, featuring a labelled picture rather than some crappy 3-D diagram (which i think made it very easy to understand). The product is very well made, neat and I was very happy with the overall quality.

To fit is a fairly simple process ;

Remove tank, mount to suitable part of the bike, put some water in the system and connect the tubes to the system and radiator, replace tank.

The tip I have is to make sure u have found a suitable place where the system will fit with the tank on with the system house connected. This will save u the embrassment of havin to take every thing off and start again. Of course I did that  Also use hot water on the pipe when fitting them to system and the radiator as it makes it about a thousand times easier.

I also needed to use a differrent mounting bracket to the one supplied as it was not long enough for where i mounted mine. As you can see from the pics its just a longer peice of metal so its no big deal to get from Bunnings (the bit i used was just lyin around in the shed dreaming of being a motard). I may have only of needed to do this due to my place of mounting (under radiator shroud screw-in point on the front of the throttle side radiator) and because Huskies like to be different and sometimes difficult.

Overall it was pretty simple thing to do and if I can do it any one can. As my Dad tells me I am not very mechanically minded but I think i am alright, i did rebuild a 2 stroke once and got it run on the fourth try  . I think it could be done in 30-40 minutes easily.

Thanks again Steve, Neill and Muzz for the system greatly appreciated and will come in handy for next year :D

Guys the way you mounted them I suspect you will have some jetting/running issues. Gas does not flow up hill very well.

This is how they should be mounted....below the float bowl so the line can drain.

To fit is a fairly simple process ;

I cut and drill the brackets so how much longer do you think the Husky bracket should be? 10-15mm?

Looks like the Husky coolant level fittings should be moved also.

Not really anywhere else to mount it on the WRF Steve because of the starter housing.
Its about as low as it will go and still clear the clutch activation bracket, and it works fine.
I have not found any issues yet with the function of the carb adversely.
All good here Steve. ;)

For Huskys it looks like the clear coolant level sight tube fittings need to be moved to the rear side so you can see it easier. Its looks like it is in the back now.

i notice that it was different to the intructions but did not see it as a big problem, unless u think it will affect how it works ? it can easily be switched ot the other side of the bike so it can be seen.

what type of bike is the stuff based around, jap bikes mainly ?

I also bent the new mount alittle to so it fits the snug inside the fairings to. do u have an example of ur stuff fitted to huskies ? I need a fuel containment system but the line set ups are pretty weird on my bike and i might have to mount it under/ near the air box

Even though the gear from APA arrived ages ago, I've only just fitted it all up in anticipation of my first track day. I went the long way round in terms of brackets, but to get it to fit exactly how you want it you'll need to.

There might be better locations, but in case it helps anyone, this is what I worked out.

Bracket for coolant tank.

Coolant tank fitted

All Done. Pretty much the only spot for the coolant tank as there's nothing to bolt to on the left radiator tank. This means swapping the hoses around as the radiator overflow one isnt long enough (radiator cap is on the left).

The radiator overflow is a neat little setup which allows the coolant to be sucked back into the radiator as it cools down, not crucial but nice for slow trail riding and traffic which I do a bit of both. The crank case breather needs to be free flowing yet not blow a mist of oil everywhere (or straight into the carb), so APA's system works nicely. Fuel was also a neat little setup so I bought it. :D I wouldve got the genuine KTM one if I realised there was one available, it hides nicely down behind the swingarm pivot.

So yeah, I couldve just jammed everything in a gatorade bottle I guess, but I like this better. ;)

Yeah, I got one of those a while back and had to take it back. They apparently only fit the SMR and a few other models but not the LC4's. My shock was very much in the way and I couldn't find anywhere else to fit it neatly that was below the float bowl.

devo

I got the impression the EXC's and SMR's (well basically any of the RFS models) were very similar, so I think I might have been ok with one. All a bit irrelevant now though. :)

The Thumpertalk GNCC team is running the coolant tank under the left side panel. They have not had any problems with it there but I'm not sure I like the coolant tank there but the Crank Case Tank with a longer exit tube would be nice in that location.

A little update.......

Everything has been running smoothly. Recently added an information web site www.MufflerSlider.com

The Muffler sliders are really catching on with Road Racers and street bikes. There were some early in line 4 melting problems but that has been solved by the addition of a high temp heat barrier.

This Muffler Slider was low sided at 60-65 MPH The owner said that if he had placed the Slider over the end cap rivets there would have been no damadge at all!

I have to post a pic of the slider on the berg, but I have had some melting problems on the inside of the slider with the heat shield.

I think because it does not have enough air flow past it to cool it down compared to the outside. And because it is a stock Berg muffler, not a propper full glass pack, which dont seem to run as hot.

But it is still working perfectly, with only a tiny bit melted, which does not contact the road anyway.

Maybe bergs need two layers of heat wrap??

APA
29-05-2007, 04:00 AM
Bergs & KTM's run a lot hotter than the asian models.

The heat barrier is now available in 2 temps. Regular and high temp that is double the thickness.

As promised, pics.

Please read the above post by APA, in that new KTM/berg sliders are sold with thicker heat tape to stop the below from happening. Although, my slider is still firmly attached to my muffler, with only the bottom of it affected, which wont hit the ground anyway.
