Having a little bit of trouble deciding between the husaberg 650 and the husky 570.
I'm trying to pick up a berg (03-04 model) for around $9,000, but a dealer has contacted me and is offering a brand spanker husky 570 SMR for $9,990 + orc.
I'm 30 years old, grew up racing enduro's and mx, but have been heavily into "roadies" for the past 5 years so i have a fair bit of riding experience.
Most of my riding will be bitumen, with the odd dirt squirt here and there.
I'm just after anyones advice on what they think given the above info.
Thanks, any replies much appreciated.

Take the 570 and be prepared to kick your heart out. Probably why he is trying to offload it, no lecky start! :(
Or... You could make a reasonable offer for a 03 WRF 250 already motarded with a shit load of extras. :D

Yeh- you'll hate kick starting- especially when it dosent wanna start for some stupid reason. :x
Look at compression ratios and how much oil they hold.
Most of these bikes are essentially high maintenance motorcross/ enduro machines, which sucks if youre slack, so look at service intervals etc.

Thanks for the tips!
I can live with a kick starter, and i love tinkering, so maintenance isn't a problem at all. ;)

But...just found a bike and picking it up tomorrow.
Husky 570TE 2002 mod. C/W Dirt and motard wheels, plastics, sprockets, tyres etc, etc. It has flowed heads, TC cam and pumps out 65 hp (dyno proven).
$7,500 with rwc/reg.
:D
How does this sound?

Umm, sounds like you'd better loan it to me for a while just to make sure it "runs right" ;)

Seriously, that sounds like a pretty fkn good deal to me 8)

Is this a new Husky cos the new ones have 2 year warranty!! This is worth the $$$. I ride a smr 450 and I have had no probs, How ever I think, like Neil you should lend it to me for the weekend just to make shaw it's rrunning right I live near Neil so you could just leave it with him and we can sort the rest out!

QDogg, Sounds like a reasonable deal to me although I am always shy of bikes that offer engine development mods, and several sets of plastics as it would lend itself to 'has it been raced/flogged' argument. With that comes 'is it reliable' statements.
The price is right, but factor in a rebuild at around $2500, and then ask yourself 'Should I spend the difference to see a new bike with 2 years hassle free riding resting on the warranty'
Just my opinion QDogg. Either way you'll have an ear to ear grin I reckon! :D

Problem with a new bike is a; you cant mod it without voiding the warranty, and b; you pay about a three grand premium over say a bike 18 months old. Still, if I was rich...

Yeah Danno!

Is it for sale? Better let me know quick smart-the deal on
the husky fell through! Wasn't happy. Drove two hours to get it,
bike had had a hard life and the motard wheels looked like he found
them at the tip.

Needless to say..."No deal".

Still desperately seeking, starting to consider all sorts of things now. :?

Bugger!

So danno, if you're talking about selling the berg then just what are you considering buying?? :-k

I think the Berg is for sale. I say think because it needs to go to someone that will enjoy it, otherwise I won't sell. A replacement is a good question. I'd like a V-twin Aprilia, but will have to wait for it to be released. Can't think of anything its equal at the time, but just bought a house and need to consider reducing debt. Talk to me QDogg

Aaaah, yes...
I see news travels quickly around here!
Yes i can confirm i have put a deposit on a ktm 450 03 model. Will pick it up monday night.
It has factory ktm supermoto wheels with new tyres, plus black excel dirt rims with new knobbies. Full akropovic exhaust plus original, etc, etc.
Got it for the right price, just couldn't get the funds together for the berg (sorry danno).
Look forward to now meeting all you guys for a ride someday, somewhere.
Hopefully another ride day up the "spur" is on the cards? ;)
