How would FZR250 wheels go on my bike (klx650)? Why do people prefer to use RGV wheels? Is there any difference? I can get my hands on some FZR wheels for pretty much nothing as my mate is wrecking his bike..
Whats your opinions on this? I dont realy want mags, but untill I have enough cash for my rims and spokie dokes I think these might be the a goer..
And would it be the same instance as RGV wheels where i'd have to space them out? obviously wouldent be a straight swap over
cheers,
rob

Not familiar with the FZR wheel specs mate but would suggest the tape measure to start with.
Make sure you have adequate room to fit the wheels.
The front disc is the thing that needs to align into the forks, and that willl pretty well determine the ease of that going in...
The sprocket to disc width is what determines whether the rear will fit.
The rear can be made narrower by removing the cush drive if you need the extra clearance.
All the same issues apply with bearing and spacer changes/machining ;)

RGV rims are popular because they were some of the few rims at the right sizes (or at least close enough to) in 17". Double check the sizes as muzz says, either with tape measure or via interweb search, and see how close they are. Not sure if they ran a 18" rear hoop like many of the bikes of the day (as my KR-1/S does)...

Neil posted up a set of GPZ wheels for a Yamaha on the Ebay post and those wheels still had the cush in. I think I will keep an eye out for a set an try to do the work myself ;)

Cush drive is the rubbery bits in the hub that are good at saving gearboxes from hamfistedness (such as from people like me) ... very good to have if you can save it, though some mag conversions have had to go to a solid insert because of the amount of material needed to machine off the side of the hub to make it fit.
I'd be measuring overall diameter (should be easy enough to see, plus be marked on the tyres that are on it), width across the bead (the inside edges of the rim with the tyre off) and the width of the hubs and placement of the drive chain sprocket and rear disc. The combo of this will tell you the suitability of tyres, the amount of clearance you can expect between your swingarm and how much machining and aligning will be needed and how close to centred you can get the rim to mount up to...

Basically just belt washers in with a hammer where there is a gap and grind off with a big motherfucker grinder where you need a gap
Well sort of,
Dummy fit the wheels with washers and bits of pipe etc as tempoo-rary spacers and see if they are going to be a fit or not straight up...
