I figure its all good just as long as you never clean the hotplate - gotta build up that nice flavor!! :D
I used to BBQ over a wood fire, for about 15 years, then I realised that i'm actually too fucking lazy to chop wood to cook my chops, so I went with gas. Oh yeah, don't clean the plate and drink plenty of beer, it's always the right the to do.

Rick, its all about the occasion fella, you have to stand around the fire for 3 hours drinking like the miner that you now smell like from the smoke :partyman: , up to two days later you can still smell the campfire on your pillow when you go to bed, tis great :D

I'm with Cal ... a good gas bbq, warm up with a 6 pack of something and then move on to some general amusement with an aerosol can of cooking oil

Be easier to just get pissed, and then eat your cat. :axe: They dont need cooking. They already taste like chicken... Screw getting wood anyway, DNRE have been cutting mine for years. :chainsaw:

The first bbq I had in England was a home made affair, 4 breeze blocks for height, Landrover petrol tank cut in half and a bird cage front for the grill. It worked well once the plastic coating had burnt off the grill :supz:
....Get pissed, eat a pussy... -hang on, I thought this thread was about BBQ's!

I think there is a major factor why we use gas bbq's over here that you would probably not be aware of.
This is a hot, dry place, and when it gets really hot and dry all open fires are banned.
This includes backyard bbq's.
The penalties for lighting a fire on a day of Total Fire Ban are quite harsh, the possible consequences are even harsher.
Because we love to incinerate our food, allowances have been made for gas bbq's to be used on total fire ban days.
dicky.

AHA!
Now I did think that could be the reason,
OK, I forgive you....... a bit.
We get Australian Heat beads over here and they are quite increadible, they turn to sand, not ash and my fook, do they hold their heat. I figured it may have something to do with sparks and dry forests but I suppose you still need a flame to get the fekkers going :(
Oh well. I'll have to have both then :D
