hell-met

Hello all, I am looking for a pre-loved or new and hiding in a shop somewhere, Berg Fs650. I am looking for a 05-06 Model. Will pay good coin for the right bike. I intend on using it for street duties and the occasional track day.

You can have mine for 12k. Its on 05 and worth more than new, as it has street creed (as it is my bike!!!).
I think the only place that has 05's is the shop in Sydney, Highway Performance Bikes, as there are none left in the warehouse ($10,990 on road).
There is pleanty of 06s around, just need to pay your deposit and it will be in within a week or two.
Second hand.....dont know, look in the usual places I guess.

I've seen the street cred scraped down the side of it :lol2:
"special exhaust modifications too" ;)

Thats why it is $12k, not $11 :D

You need to splash some cash for some some go faster goodies and anodized bling before you get any serious street cred Sibbo,
Maybe a Ti underseat set, a set of factory Ohlins forks and a hand made swingarm would kick it off with a graphic kit to change the colour.
Your bike looks like every other Berg, wheres the bling man? :?

Like this 07 model 550 the new SMR from Husaberg.
Wait for this one, should be better than the 05/06 models ;)

The bling is the man twisting the grip and doing wheelies!
I think i'll trade up to a husaberg when the get EFI and alloy frame.
Anyone heard any rumours about this happening in the near future?
Sibbo

No talk that I have seen.
Dont dukes still have CrMo frames?
Don't like dukes either. Overpriced, underpowered, latte drinker bikes.

Sibbo, what are the service intervals on the Berg, I'm serioulsy interested having seen yours on Saturday, it looks a ton lighter than the LC4 too.

That's because it is!!

Service intervals are every time you ride aren't they? :lol2:
Seriously, I've heard berg people recommend oil every 10 hours and valve checks fairly often, but they should be screw + locknut if memory serves and therefore fairly easy to do. Danno had some issues with his rockers on his, at about 100 hours use.

Weight?
My WRF is about 12kgs shy of an LC4.
I am going to weigh it this week just so you can all see just how slow your big 625/650's really are...
Bergs and no oil changes inside 2 hour intervals if your floggin' them, and your up for big bucks for the head repairs.

If that the case Muzz that must be the heaviest WR on the planet! My 450 was 119 wet and the 610 is 140+ and it feels it. I think the LC4 are a tiny bit heavier again. I thought the WR should be around the 112 mark
Sibbo

The berg is pretty full on. Hobby enduro use, 15 hour service (100 L of fuel).
60 hour bearing replacment. So not a bike you ride to work every day!
But on the berg forum, there is plenty of high hour engines getting around. Do the maintance and they seem pretty good. I think a lot of the previous weakness have been fixed in 04, because thats whay all the older model bikes replace their bits with (04 and newer).
I just hope I dont have any major problems.

They offered me a new 06 at $12990, with a trade-in on my 06 300 of $5500
Guess I'll be staying in the orange camp a while longer, the dealer said they werent even bringing any of the 07 650's into the country
Sibbo
17-10-2006, 05:01 PM
What a joke, your 300 is worth like $2,000! hahahaha
You would have to be so silly to accept that deal, no wonder people hate salesmen, cos they blatently try and rip you off.
And no 07 650's, I guess the 06 650 wont be discounted then, or as much. Did they mention the 07 550 motard?

Manual says 115.1 outta the box, add the wheels which are heavier than stock by 5.5kgs, heavy weight Heidenau SM tubes, the disc rotor, large fuel tank and a handful of accessories.
Its not that much lighter than a 640 now,
Thats the reason I wanted to weigh it this week Ash ;)

here are the 06 450 weights
KTM 450 SMR 242
CRF 450 R 244
RMZ 450 245
YZ 450 F 246
KX 450 F 248
FS 450 E 257
SMR 450 268
husqvarna and husaberg both had stock electric starters and batterys ,all bikes had no fuel
by the way the ktm won the shoot out
Sibbo
18-10-2006, 08:49 AM
WOW, the KTM is ~109kg. Thats great!!!
The berg is ~116kg (claimed dry of 112kg).
The husky is a fat heavy POS! hahaha
Flash
18-10-2006, 09:36 AM
But you have to remember the Husky still feels lighter that the berg
Sibbo
18-10-2006, 09:58 AM
I bet your current one doesn't.
hahaha
Weight of a bike and how it feels has alot to do with enertia. i reckon my 450 would feel lighter than 650 berg due to engine capacity and power. Sibbo I think your forgetting the huskies where the market leaders by far in 04 and haven't had to change that much to stay there. apart from plastics and a few little tweaks here and there is the same bike as the new ones.
I would love you to give Ash a ride of berg so he can tell me how it compares to the husky !
I was thinkin a good idea for the site would be to post user reveiws of each bike people own on the site. It could be added on the Main Menu part of the page. I think it would be a useful tool for newbiee etc. :) Real opinions are hard to find on bikes.
Sibbo
18-10-2006, 11:47 AM
I have done that. I reviewd the SMR450 a few years ago, I think I have crapped on about a few other bikes as well.
But it is a bloody good idea.
Ash riding the berg....but he does not have anything desirable for me to ride in exchange.
Wobbly
18-10-2006, 12:02 PM
Man, you left the door way open there sibbo :lol2:
Reviews can be organised, there's actually a dedicated reviews part of the site I can turn on with authors etc that might be useful for that purpose...! :-k
Sibbo
18-10-2006, 12:10 PM
Man, you left the door way open there sibbo :lol2:
Huh? what do you mean?
If we could get regular people to do the reviews of the bike, it would be good, cos the readers would know a bit about what each tester likes (ie have a reviewer bio).
For example. Sibbo: Likes wheelies and stunting, prefers two stroke power delivery.
So if I was to pay out on a LC4, it would not mean it is a bad bike, its just a bad bike for my type of riding.
Where as someone who does lots of K's to and from work, would review a berg and say its shit. Buts its only shit for that type of riding.
Do you get what I am trying to say?
If this is done well, we might be able to have some pulling power to get demos for longer that 30 - 60 min rides, as to do a propper riview. Also, might be able to get track demos!!!
Well I am a regular test rider of all kinds of bikes. I think it would be pretty good idea.
We could also do products reveiws in the future.
Are you kidding sibbo, you should be paying Ash to ride the Husky AKA - the most beautiful motard ever built

Ok, I've opened up the reviews section .... you can get to it via the links on the top left menu thinggy (which takes you here --> http://www.vsmr.net/modules.php?name=Reviews ). I've added in a bogus example to show you what's there, so feel free to make submissions of bikes or bike related stuff. Keep it concise but informative and I'll review the submissions before sticking them up.
There are a few bugs in the editing side I can see so far, so bare with it until I can work out what needs to be fixed to get them to work (embedded HTML and pagebreaks don't seem to work very well at the moment, but let me know if there are other things that are stuffed)....
why don't we add like a critreia out of 5 or 10 on things like reliability etc. We could also use a criteria to show the riders style/useage to guage their thoughts on the bike. Then have a notes section underneath. that should stop the long responses .... unless i get drunk again.
and Sibbo i was being serious, the 04 100th anniversary Husky SMR450 is the most beautiful motard ever built :D bar none :!:
actually after looking at that neill i think that will be fine.
But the way your head is on fire
maybe just have it on the top of the page where home forum, chat, home and gallery are so more people see it to increase the adds and reads.

So you arent taking the piss about the 610?
I dont like the grey bit at the bottom of the rad shroud of the 450.
the 610 is okay, I was referring to the beauty of his old 450 like mine
Flash
18-10-2006, 02:08 PM
I agree with Jov about the 450!! But the 610 is umm reliable :) every day!!
I would love to ride the berg (no pressure there Sibbo) You did offer me a go on the YZ and after a few track days I would love to take you up on it!! (but not until I have a little fitness)
You can take my 125 for a burn, I know you have ridden a CR 125 (and thought it was boring) BUT that was stock and mine is far from it. It wont be the power house your used to but you will become a better rider on it, not to mention you will love the MTB feeling it has.
For the record I am enjoying th 610 it is much easier to ride every day but probably a couple of seconds slower around a track than the 450.

Can I hijack this thread (as it seems to have wondered off topic a little)...
I am looking (reluctantly) to sell my FS650e bought recently from Danno... Most of you on here know the bike and know that its had all of its servicing etc... Ive also just done chain and sprockets, tyres, and some general maintenance to it...
Ill probably create a real thread in the for sale section but thought it worth sticking into here as well...

Why are you getting rid of it so soon?

For $300, I will keep the engine and just do a swap when my 2nd gear gets even worse. Then I will sell you my engine for $300. ;)
Bike is available mid Nov.
Bugger.
If i can find a better freight quote i'll let you know.

No.
A engine with good comp (recently tested), carbs, air box (w/o filter), other associated eletronic shit = $500.
Front and rear end suspension components = $500.
Cracked frame = trash.
Other consumables = spares for me.
Glass = very little (I will post pics and you will know why! Race tape is not glass!!!!).
Possible spares that I dont need and are sold, might be able to kick off the VSMR kitty.
