Also for all the tips, especially Sibbo for stunt class at the end.
Doing my 1st powerslide today had to be my highlight, even if it was accidental but also keeping it upright was great too! :D

Good day guys, though the kdx proved problematic :? Good to see everyone again and looking forward to the next one :)
Zulufoot was really hiking around the place on the skinny little tyres with some nice backing it in action. Of course, there is such as a thing as going too far ;)

Just got home and unloaded and thought I might post up before getting Tania from work.
I dont mind doing what I can to make it a bit more relaxed and enjoyable.
Cheers boys for the thanks.
Good to see Murray punting the 300 around, unfortunately binning it and high siding himself at one stage, but all other stages were all stops out and go!
Very well done mate for the pace you put on especially on the skinnies. ;)
Mark popped out a powerslide in front of me at one stage and then just continued on his way round the corner like nothing had happened.
I was impressed but forgot to tell you mate.
Dangermouse is dangerous now!
Dave had the Big DR sliding all over the place and this time mostly on the track.
I still take my hat off to you Dave, for steering the beast around, and I noticed an improvement with your cornering, and the wheelstands are cool too mate.
Paul was circulating again with the camera on the bike and look forward to seeing the edited version. Nice bracket you made too Paul.
Brett was rippin the Berg round and was usually first out on each session.
As the day wore on Sibbo showed us all his prowess on one wheel and a couple of boys joined in the wheelyfest along the straight.
Getting more familiar with it now Brett?
Hamp rolled out the YZ so Jake could stack it for him, saves him doing it himself and gave his wife the arvo off playing nurse, and let her enjoy the sunshine and noise...
Jake brought down the speedbump and the GG.
Speedbump minus muffler = loud,.. What?
Managed to steal a ride on Hamps YZ, and Daves DR, he rode more than anyone today, slipping out with the mini's, and then with us too.
I saw you 8) ...
Neil had the KDX working but only for a short while.
Carby problems maybe forced him to do some running repairs as did Murray... 2 strokes ...
Got the suspension done, engine plays up, will be all good next time Neil.
Craigs still in plaster so he came for a looksee with his daughter which was good.
Justin came to scare children but there weren't any, so we all looked at his injuries and went 'Ooh that must hurt mate'
Keep us posted on how you go Juz...
Thanks to Justin and Neil for getting me a tyre that has tread organised so I could attend today, and getting to where my bike was without a wheel.
I had another enjoyable day, but are fucking shagged.
I'm going to sit down and do my bit to deplete the ozone layer right now ;)

Quickly found the point of no return on the rear tyre  (with more time and new tyres I would of never gave it back)
Murray sell a kid and get those 17's
Dave derseves huge props for hooning the DR at a nice pace
Fuck driving !!!!!
Hopefully all goes well with the change over to the new owner :!:

Got 2 sessions in before fuel starvation problems reared their head. Still not sure what the problem is, but a strip and clean of the carb is definately in order, along with dumping the fuel in favour of some new stuff. Weird stuff, was playing up a bit at low throttle openings, then after a quick plug change and pilot circuit clean initially seemed better, but then just died under open throttle coming on to the back straight :? Oh well, more time in the garage :)

I told Angie it was a hoot, but a bit dangerouse cos the thing kept letting go (Not untrue, ditched it 3 times today  the last one hurt tho :x )
She said "Well, why dont you get the wheels then" :D :D :D
I dont want to dissapoint her :D
I had a great time battling with Sibbo on a few sessions, makes you fell like a kid again, my body's telling me I'm old as I sit here now :punch:

Get the rims before Angie changes her mind, its a woman perogitive remember? ;)
What colour would you be thinking of, black of course?
Sibbo told me today,
"You have to lift your game, cause when he gets wheels, He'll be faster than you"
You were faster than me today with the skinnies.
All the same, we aren't far now from being 2 Murrays Racing ;)

Before splurging out on a m/c just try it with a bigger disc - the problem with the small disc is that it doesnt dissipate heat very well and so transfers more of it straight into the caliper. Bigger disc = more surface area = greater ability to dissipate heat into atmo rather than your braking system :)

Ash it at Winton this weekend for the Festival of Motorsport and when he returns I will get him to call on the new owner of the GPTC at his Cycling shop in Mitcham/Nunawading, regards the ongoing use of the track.
Ash knows of this fella through MTB and so do a few others from here that cross train.
For that matter anyone from VSMR can just walk into Cycle Science and ask about the track and that might make the penny drop that we are serious.
Failing that this week I will keep trying until I manage to get him on the phone again and go from there.
Another good day, good to put some more faces to names.
My riding was terrible, I just didn't click at all - That serves me right for drinking a LOT of beer on Friday night - Next time I'm dry!
Looked through the photos and there are some beauties - Thanks to Juz for braving the pain barrier to take some more pics when I was riding. I'll upload some low-res versions soon and if anyone wants a printable version just PM and I will send the full-sized file which is suitable for printing up to A3 size.

Sounds like it all went well then, I'm sorry I couldn't be there.
I didn't sit in the girly bars of Wan Chai all day, went to Lan Kwai Fong instead, they were having a party.
For those who don't know HK, LKF is a bar area, couple of hundred in a pretty small area. It was party time and it was packed. Lots of talent, lots of beer, lots of fun.
I might be back in town for the next Lemon Merangue day, too far away for me to tell just yet.
dicky.

There's some bar on one of the little islands around HK that's pretty good fun, but can't remember the name of the place. You have to catch a boat out there, and I can't really remember exactly where it was on account of being dark, but good fun nonetheless :)

I cant stop watching the clip of...well you all know by now!!! hahaha
I hope the pain goes away soon. I fet bad that I did not crash and was in NO pain, that I had to bin the YZ at Alex on Sunday and I am a bit sore now. I have another dent for you to fix now Neil.
Murray, when you get the 17's.....WOW!!!!! I dont want to think about it....the speed and pace you will have. So have you been a top flight racer in the past?
The berg is getting better, but I still have front end chatter. I had 4 clicks off stock fork compression damping, 21 front psi, but every time I entered the left hand triple apex with lots of speed, the front end would chatter. One time I had it occur latter through the corner, which saw me heading towards the tyre barrier, but a bot of boot on road action, seems to cure the front chatter induced slide.
Its bloody annoying, as I know I can go faster through there, as I was on the YZ.
But on a possitive, I finally got some power slides out of the 160. I just need ot get on the power really really early and hard. The thing has sooo much grip and I can get on the gas so much earlier that I did on the YZ. But I would still swap my powerplant for a modern 500 two stoke engine. As thats just what I need...more power!!!

There was mention of pics, I have looked at the few in the gallary, but there must be heaps more. Do I just need to give it a while for them to be uploaded or are they on people's personal sites?
Also, the chick that was riding the mini bike (and apparently has a R1 fighter [respect]) was on a camera. Do we have contact details or are thoes pics never to be seen by VSMR eyes?

The berg is getting better, but I still have front end chatter.
Being just a bit older has certain advantages, and one of those is being able to have spent more time on bikes in different terrains.
The front end chatter is a direct result of the fact the front tyre rubs on the egde of the fork leg inside Brett.
I would be placing washers in the appropriate places and removing equal material from the opposite side to centre the wheel in the forks first.
Sibbo

The joys of spokes, just a little twisting and turning and I can have a wobbly wheel.

You can try and shift it with the spokes but Coreys wouldnt go far enough to stop fouling the fork leg.

Theres not a great deal of options left as far as I know, quadracep exercises until I got legs like Shanes and a handful of pills every time I exercise, or most of the other solutions require some sort of cutting and friggin' stitching, but all the same it will certainly be a while away from my perspective.
While its elective, I aint voting mate ;) ...

I hope you get sorted quickly mate, we need you trackside for many years to come!

Thanks Daniel,
I have an intimate knowledge of orthopaedics too mate, from the perspective that in the early 90's I sold orthopaedic equipment, total joint replacement systems in fact, also for a very radical thinking company called Biomet.
I have numerous contacts within the orthopaedic world in Melbourne from that, and also from binnin' my CB1100R in 82' after a windowlicker in a tipper did a right hand turn across in front of me, leaving me on the road with the flesh from my feet and lower legs coming outta the eyelets in my Army GP boots like sausage meat  ...
13 months worth of reconstructive surgery to both legs, followed by a couple of lower leg breaks and knee blowouts on the MX/Desert bike has taken its toll.
I came of the mootard in '04 at fairly high speed and bit it in the back department too and compress fractured 6 vertebrae and ruptured all the adjoining discs, did a few ribs and a collarbone just to make everything while I was recovering fuckin' impossible  ...
All the same,
Murray, I have no intention of slowing down, except for the time it takes to put my gear on and get to the bike mate ;)
This is but a minor setback really, although on a fortnightly basis after every track day with all the left handers its getting a bit thin with me now...
Maybe one of them 'new-beaut-Stone-Cold-Steve-Austin-ass-whooping knee braces' for when I'm on the bike.
I couldn't give a rats arse about any other time

Jeez Daniel I left out a hell of a lot that really I take as being part of the sport.
Broken knuckles from roost, lost count seriously.
Dislocations to the shoulders, elbow, and fingers, quite a few.
Bi lateral ankle reconstructions in '85 and '87
Ventral hernia repair to upper chest wall after rupturing the muscle during an offroad event over rough terrain, once thank Christ cause it hurt heaps,
Arthroscopic Meniscal trims, by the plenty, I think 5 times to the left knee and 3 to the right.
And the list goes on.
I been at this for a long time and motorcycling is inherently dangerous.
You do so at your own risk
FUUCK! That's got to hurt
I lowsided my pushbike on a damp roundabout on Sunday - I have a nasty graze on my elbow. and I broke my......... MP3 player  seriously I snapped the headphone jack clean off!
Hope all the properly wounded people make speedy recoveries.

Man its fucked.
I also know your damn right about the bike training, some stronger quads will help me no end, and that pain barrier is just there for wimps to let 'em know their times up on that machine anyway
When I can get it to the point it will bend enough this week I will be on the BMX again for training anyway.
Need to get onto the Cycling Team and I'd be better yesterday,
Or come to Thailand, get the required levels of HGH, and go home 6 months later, 15 years younger ;) ...
I would appreciate the braces mate,
Chuck em in, Thanks...

ok mate ill put them in with the leathers , a guy i went to school with is over here now trying to get him to carry the bag with the rest of the shirts and leathers in ,he goes back on the 30th .
as for the bike , a stationary bike is the way to go then you have constant tension through the muscle and the joint , the bike is not only about building the muscle its mainly about the joint moving through the full or mostly full range of movement in a very low impact exercise .
with knees like ours mate we can forget jogging or running even walking on uneven ground as one little twist they end up full of fluid .

OK to use the bike on a stand so its static,
Or should I go to the Gym here and pedal to nowhere?
Mmm,
Friggin' fluid,
You could deep fry a god damn cat with whats in mine at the moment...

no problem bike on rollers is fine , or on a stand what ever you can hook up , ice is your best bet mate 20min every hour untill the flud is down and keep the leg up , good time to lay on the sofa with your leg in the air , if your on the computer stick it up on the desk .
any one esle reading ice is for joints only dont use it on muscle injuries , to heal muscle you need as much boold flow as possible movement and heat works much better.

We are a beaten up mob here at the moment mate.
Paul skun himself up, Murrays still getting over his off, my knees being a swine, Angus has just had stitches in his elbow, Justins been in the wars, and I hope everything goes well this week mate with the surgery,
Craig came off the mini and busted his arm again, And Neil had an extra buttock for a couple of weeks courtesy of a windowlicker.
Wanna come riding with the leper colony in the vegetable garden
Heres a picture from out of the garden, not sure about the herbs growing, they sort of look like...

Hey Muzz Shanes spot on with the bike I have had bad knes since I was a kid the only time they don't ache is when I'm racing the bike! THe other thing you could try is glucosamine and heaps of it. Also I was going to say HGH aswell, there is probably some other stuff as well that will help but as much as I would have liked to know about it Shane is the man there.
But serious Glucoamine sulphate and catss claw (herb duh!) I take these for my back and it has allowed me to get of the pain killers. Also My old dog is on it and it has made a massive difference to him!!

You know what going on here people?
Its very sneaky, but I think Muzz is making excuses for next track day. Like, "My knee is still not better".
I dont see any pics of a huge knee, does anyone else?

Sibbo's Brother.
If we had 'em on the track at the same time they would be like bumper cars down the straight.

....
Also, the chick that was riding the mini bike (and apparently has a R1 fighter [respect]) was on a camera. Do we have contact details or are thoes pics never to be seen by VSMR eyes?
Although fresh, my VSMR eyes viewed the footage last night. Dont worry, ill remind her to get the footage edited and get it posted.
Good to see you guys had a blast. The clarity in some of those pics are awesome.

You know Muzz, if my wife seen the list of your ops & such, she would sell my bike & ban me from ever riding again. Thats a long list of pain man, but you have been involved with them for how many years now?.
Myself, i was very involved with trailrides & so forth in my teens but stopped riding for 20 years or so. After coming to the track, i'm even more convinced that i was an idiot to be off them for so long :D. My wife says i'm going through mid-life crisis, trying to be a boy again :? She didn't mind me getting some protective gear but the wallets under lock & key now :( When the tyres are worn out i'm walking. :( I'll make a habit of only reading the forums when she's not in the room :)

Don't worry mate, I set up a place to FTP the video to, but I have to re-cut it from dvd to an avi framed mpeg4 and probably recompress it a bit perhaps to offer a lower b/w available version.
I also got Dave's DVD through the mail this last week, and will be working to get that converted soon too, but i've been a little busy lately with work :( Had to duck up to sidders last night and came back in this arvo, so will get these done once I get the AMA coverage sorted out :D

Rode for the first time yesterday.
Scary.
Next time you go out for a ride just close one eye for a bit. ;)
I will be riding at the next one if that's ok with you guys?
I have periperal on the right eye but I couldn't read the top line of a chart.
It's like my eye has been smeared in vasoline. I see shapes and too much light as the pupil is fucked and stays large.
Went to the hospital today and have a review in 4 months, they don't want to touch it now incase my eye bleeds interally again.
I might be getting a Titanium lower eye socket.
How fucking trick is that eh? Just like Arnie. :)
I'll be back.
Cyclops. ;)

Of course you're welcome mate - but just one suggestion, if you're in need of using someone as a brake can I recommend sibbo? :lol2:

I have observed Sibbo (Exhibit A: photo @ top of this page) and I believe he is fair game.
So, yes, more than likely one of us will run over each other. ;)

Yes, green bikes have knobs on them. ;)
The bolt's are made of chocolate and round when you look at them.
Clip on's snap off whilst flogging through a corner at over 100. Fuck, that was fun!
Always check & if necessary replace the bolts holding the bar into the bit that goes around the fork leg after crashing a KR-1.
The only bike I have ever written off (ZX-12 - Hit from behind, not really my fault) was a green one. :(

Bet it was fun while it lasted though :D You forgot the bit about KR-1's snapping ring pegs on a regular basis too :lol2:

I had a ball on that bike.
I crashed the shit out of it on many an occasion. It was my first road bike.
2 strokes are awesome.
I always drooled over the Bimota V-Due V-twin 500cc 2 stroke that never ran quite right with the fuel injection. Factory recall.
A guy in Oz modded them to run with a pair of flatslide from memory.
Ahh, and the ultimate Bimota... SB6R. Drooooool.
I shall find some picture soon of my old KR1, but you musn't laugh. It was the early 90's and I had just started modding bikes. :)
Awesome... Thanks for your help there Neil.
Muzz, Ill send ya the DVD in the mail.
Cheers guys,
Moto
Unfortunately, wont be at the track on the 11th.... However, just ordered some gear; boots, impact rig etc, once thats in there wont be any excuses for me not too come.

All good Moto.
Gear wont be long mate and you will be rippin' it up with us.
I got the video loaded last night Moto but if you have a copy to spare, please still send it on...
Thanks. ;)
Lucky I'm not going on the 11th, I don't want to be Juz's moving braking marker!
I can't make it as I am doing a road ride with some mates (mostly newbies), hopefully I can convert them to motards.
I'll see if I can pop in past in the late arvo (save me a snag!)

Ok, finally downloaded the 2 last helmet cam videos I took on the 14th ... one was boring so I just filed that, the other one I've mixed up with a bit of marcy playground for old times sake and entitled "Wheelies with Kimo" ;)
About 90mb. Enjoy :)
