From the FX website:

After the very positive feedback from the first round of the 2011 Yamaha sponsored Supermono series at the recent Eastern Creek round of the 2011 YMF Loan Yamaha Australian FX-Superbike Championship we have decided to include the Supermono class at the next round of the AFX-SBK Championship at Winton Raceway on the first weekend of September.

While the Winton racing will not be part of or point score towards the three round Supermono championship it will provide competitors with another opportunity to go Supermono racing.

Competitors who are interested should contact Terry O'Neill in business hours on 02 48 235 711.
or email t_oneill@formula-xtreme.com.au

I believe the format from EC will remain where the Supermono's are on the track at the same time (although started later) than the 125GP bikes, and get friday practise, qualifying and 3 races saturday and qualifying and 3 races sunday. also that Entry fees remain the same at $95.

why not?

Cos its easy to run the short course, which is what club/state level run.
Its unncessarily loooooooong and boooooooring.

... happy to be corrected but long is more or less there for the cars?

EC and QR are much longer - ask the guys who raced there if the drafting on the main straight was 'boring'

I don't think Winton is allowed to even run the short track at the moment anayway.

John has there been any talk of letting the "other" Supermoto's race with the Supermono's yet? And at the same price?

Vic Titles earlier this year ran the long track.

It's only club racing, ie Hartwell and Preston, that ran the short track.

from what i heard the other day at practice day there will be no more permits given out for short track and everyone will have to run long track from now on it was deemed to be to dangerous .

Well I have just finished changing my Husky TE 450 into an SMR and my SMR into a TE 450.
All the time I was thinking this is ridiculous as the bikes are identical once you swap the parts but those are the rules and now I can enter my TE that looks like an SMR for these races.

Yep, I am entering. $95 for 6 races, you cant get better value for money than that, plus the good news for everyone else is that they don't have to worry about coming last as I have a strangle hold on that position.

Earlier this year at Winton, at I think , a Hartwell Cub meeting, there was an incident which involved athe Death of a rider on the short track. That maybe the reason why they may not be liscensing the shorter track.

Hello, will anyone need tyres at Winton? - Dunlop will have some Alpha 12's there but not sure if any of the other tyre guys will go.

The tyres have to be tread ed road tyre don't they. I would not have any idea what brand are good for this class, but I will most likely just use some old road tyres that I have lying around.

looks like only two riders showed up?

No this round wasnt for points at all JB....hence the small turnout

Did they give out prizes Bruce?

Yes they gave trophies for both Saturday and Sunday based on the aggregate of the points from the 3 races.
There were 4 riders entered , Lachie decided not to race once he worked out his bike was under geared for the track and Jason was unfortunate enough to blow up his engine in the first race.
Jason is a great bloke and was very helpful, he would have easily won the races, but his misfortune was my good luck and now I have 2 magnificent trophies to show off. (As long as you don't ask about the competition)
I improved my riding over the weekend but still have miles to go to even stay on the same lap as the fast guys. Any way I had a ball and thank you to all those who did not enter for gifting me these trophies.
