Since most people i have met tend to end up on a MOTARD for all sorts of awesome reasons, from all types of riding and owning diff bikes, i thought this mighyt be an interesting experiment. I have contemplated this with mates over beers for years and the list always changes and it becomes hard toget down to 5.
Here is the score. List the 5 bikes you would have in your garage ... no limits on $$$ or availability etc. and why.
1. Husky 510 SMR - Does this need explanation? (inc dirt rims for extra bonus)
2. Aprilia RSV4- Unreg dedicated track bike
3. Royal enfield 500 - Rode one of these in india for a few months. Its slow, reliable and looks vintage and cool.
4. BMW GS 1200 - With road wheels for the longer trips (and the missus fits on the back too!) no off road wheels as the bike is too heavy
5. Roland Sands Designs KTM Cafe Racer.. sexy bike and would haul arse.....

Hmmm...with no reason or rhyme...
KTM 450 - Fully factory modified motard - ( with flame thrower )
KTM 525 - Fully factory modified motox
ducati desmo - track bike - so I look fast even though im going slow
goldwing - top model with a/c and heater etc - for Philip Island trips
TLR 1000 - yellow - bling and polish and chrome - guts ripped out of the mufflers
( if I had a 6th, not being greedy or anything, prob an R1 kitted out, with a turbo, and bov ) :P

Interesting choice of bikes Snowman. I rode my brothers CB1100RD in the 80s. It was a great looking bike but handling was nowhere near as good as my Katana and the Suzuki was a lot cheaper.

My RMZ 250 (My 1st build and it's shit loads of fun)
My Maico 620 (It's going finally,just needs a good tune-up now)
BMW S1000RR (lounge Room bike,so I can dream about how fast it is)
MV Augusta 1000R (cos I would never spend that sort of coin on a bike)
LTZ-450R...Just for other fun stuff

1. My DRZ (just cos it's fun to tinker with and I have am putting way too much time and money into it).
2. MV Augusta 312RR - just to see if the claims are true.
3. Husaberg TE300 - rides like a 4 stroke and sounds a lot better.
4. BMW K1300R - Not quite the lounge room of the Goldwing but not far off.
5. Ossa or Sherco 300cc 2T trials bike - because sometimes going slow can be just as much fun.

* Ducati Multistrada S for the daily
* Yammy FJR1300 or BMW R1300RT for the big miles, preferably with white fairings/panniers ;)
* Aprillia RSV4 Factory APRC or Tuono V4R for something a little bit different (that is if I'd fit on one)
* Britten V1000 to park next to the fireplace
* True factory supermoto bike of any make, I'm not fussy... just slow...

I expected that, but it was a bike we didn't get in Canada or the U.S and it was the first bike I saw with a full fairing for the street, I think I was in grade 7 and I had a tiny picture of it in my locker until grade 10.
To me it was and still is a super cool bike. I've only ever seen 3 or 4 in the metal and I love them.
I did ride a Katana quite a bit and they still look almost modern (mainly because of rims and tyres)) but if I had to choose just on looks it'd be the CB everytime.
