ok so the 640 is three months old with 2300k's on it. i rode to a mates place the other day parked it for 5 hours went to leave and the bike wouldnt start. tried electric, kick then roll and no good. the electric starter just makes a buzzing noise possibly solenoid. another problem i can see is i can just kick the bike over with out pulling the decomp lever. so my guess is the decomp might be stuck on yet there seems plenty of compression when i try and roll it. any ideas or suggestions would be helpfull. its going on a trailer monday morning and back to ktm but it would be easier if i could ride it. have fun thanks in advance for you help.

Might sound a bit like teaching you to suck eggs,
But the batterys not flat is it?
If not down on voltage, you might be on the ball with the starter solenoid but without fire from either kick or rollstart, maybe a problem with rectifier/regulator too.
Are the KTM's fitted with auto decompression like the WRF's are by means of kickstarter engaged mechanism internally?
There will be the right info for you no doubt tonight or tomorrow when everyone gets back from the Island...

Just trying to help, cause I prefer to ride than trailer my bike too Krooz ;) .

there's auto decomp with the electric start plus a manual decomp lever

You cant keep telling people to buy a Husky Ash, if you cant ride them after the warranty expires

Ok shes all good now. not quite sure of the problem but i think i just ran the battery low then flooded the crap out of it. with a massive jumper pack hooked up and a quick clean of the plugs it burst into life. gave it a good hundred k flog to make sure its a ok. have fun thanks for your help

When you said about the solenoid noise it was a bit of a give away the voltage was down.
Look for a reason, it could still have a fried rectifier,
Tell tale, sometimes blowing the globes in the dash, indicators etc, but not usually the headlight, can be highlighted by just failure to start after being used too.

Test, Multimeter to check its charging and not more than about 15 volts, no less than 9 ;) ...
Thats just from my bush mechanics knowledge.
There are fellas here that will be able to point you right in regards to the possible causes too.

You should have flogged it for 200kms just for doing it in the first place and making you think you would have to trailer it  ...

Your KTM has more than one plug? ;)

Woops Some Habbits die hard  . oh well its much cheaper to replace only one. havnt had a problem yet. checked the voltage and its not a problem so the rectifier is fine. thanks for you help guys. its going in for a service in the next few weeks so everything can be checked over then. anyone have an idea on what it will cost to have the carby rejetted? ive modded the airbox and had the exhausts done just looking for a little more go. anyhow thanks again
