Whats good for general road use?
i'm in the market for one too to save having to swap shit around.
I dont really want it as short as the stock for road riding coz i dont wanna be screaming out all the gears just to get to highway speeds, but i do still want plenty of poke down low, which is why i got one in the first place :D

Depends on your front sprocket ;) If you send me your gearing from your manual or whatever (primary drive ratio, individual gear ratios, final drive ratio) then I can plug it into a gearing spreadsheet for you.

If you want to keep hold of your licences, go the shorter gearing...
I use 14/44 everywhere and its good all round on the small cc bike.
15/44 on the 450 bikes would be a snappy gearset for most of them.
You need to know really what the original ratios are about.
Yamahas have a 4:1 final drive and you are aiming for 3:1 without adversely affecting the power curve. Hence my suggestions for the sprocket choices above. ;)

Muzz is right on the money with the gearin
It all depends on your box ratio's plus your engine output
I run my bike pretty tall 17/38 but due to my gearbox it's not as tall as you would think. Tops out at about 170kph but still has reasonable grunt down low 'cause 1st/2nd gears are so short, but i mainly ride the road and have a few sprockets for tracks
