Hey guys

Im wanting to do a track day next month once my CRM250 is all together.

anyone else interested in joining me???

Im happy to do any track; be it broadford, winton or even a gokart track.

I can probably borrow my old mans trailer and xr6 if I beg, or if anyones got a van or car/trailer who wants to go Ill pay for fuel and some beers.
(dont like riding to track incase I have a spill, I learnt the hard way in 2009)

express your intrest here

What'cha mean Marty? I thought you were the exponent of how cheap it is and how any one can afford to race, surely a track day is cheaper?

If champions are going to charge $200 for a crappy track day, I'll spend the cash on a weekend of racing.

MV do track (practice days) at broadford for a lot cheaper than champions.

can proabably get a few bikes into a edit: Champions track day at broadford. I think champs track days are 110 +25 for insurance and single day track licence.

otherwise winton could be an option, 2hr drive from melbourne.
its cheap but first timers need to pay 50bucks for a licence for that track.

that would end up being 200 once you paid for the winton licence.
so you'd might as well do a Phillip island weekday Trackday for the same amount.

I pretty easy in terms of what days its on, weekend or weekday I don't care. second half on May suits me best just to make sure I can get my bike running in time.

Im told these ride days are quite stringent with passing and close riding (ie - your not allowed too).

Doesn't being a hartwell member give you practice access to broadford?

Jeram

All track days have a 2m rule.
Iv never had a problem with that rule.

I always just wait for the quids to brake early then I get around them.

Day before a meet... I guess so - still costs though.
Or do you know something I dont?

MV have open practice once a month for MA license holders. $100 I think, check their website.
Next best thing is a weekday ride day with Champions because the weekends are usually full of crazy squids with 'ambition that outweighs their ability'

I like the idea of champions, its cheap, dont need a licence...

squids dont take time off work to ride (great idea)

We have it good up here, $60 for the whole day, that's it, no scrutineering, no licenses, pass, crash, whatever and nobody minds....

Old man has agreed to take the car and trailer to broady on the 26th May. Ill book in once Im 100% sure I can get my cylinder back in time.

taking one motard and 1 R1...

might have room for someone elses tard.
(worst case senario, might have to take of pegs off the tards, but Iv got spare split pins etc so no drama)

these are the better track days too with alot more track time than a champions one have done both and do another champions one unless i have too. Also if you dont have a day licence its an extra $20

These MV trackdays need a MA licence

"Race Practice Days
We will expand the Race Practice Days prior to all race events at the Broadford Road Circuit. Minimum licence requirement is a MA Senior Club licence."

so unless everyone has a licence, Its just not gona be possible.

Spoke to the Ol' Man and been told not to book in the Broady day at the end of May until 2 days before so that we can check the weather. It apparently is almost never booked out during the week.

so whos in? im going regardless

Ok Ive got 3 bikes going to Broadford on this date...

My CRM250 (if it gets finished otherwise Ill be borrowing a GS500 lol)
Old mans R1
Mate on which ever bike he brings, probably a fireblade

We will have plenty of tools and have a spare trailer spot for anyone with a small bike (motard) who lives near (or can get their bike near) where we are driving...
Ringwood then to Altona then to Broadford and back

Martyd

Ringwood to altona to broadford?

I shoot from ringwood to broadford the back way...

Jeram

It might be a better idea for me to get a weekend permit for the CRM and then I ride it the Ringwood so we can shoot up the back way through yea. your dead right. I can just imagine my old man groaning about having to come pick up my bike haha

BTW, up that way there is an amazing road between yea and Euroa...
old growth forests, spur roads, no traffic, some canyon roads, "tree tunnels"...
road surface is shit for the first 20km and the last 20km... the 80km inbetween is pretty sweet :D

the shitty road surface at the start and finish means that no1 ever finds the road :D

Martyd

I live near ringwood and the ute has had some sweet runs to broadford and winton thru the back roads..

hey buddy

all you need is

-yourself
-Helmet, Leather Gloves, Leathers, Bike Boots
-Pay Entry Fee $125, plus an addition fee for a day licence and insurance (Think its an extra 25bucks)
-bring a bike that is either road registered or is suitable for racing

make sure its in basic road worthy condition, check brake pads and brake feel, check tyre wear, and anything else on the bike that might need fixing before racing

no need to go over the top, just make sure its safe to ride/race. they (the marshalls) just do a quick check on your bike in scrutineering.

so yeah, its pretty easy :D

we normally book and pay a couple days before just to make sure the weather will be ok :D

I think I got everything there so count me in.

And if you or your mate don't mind, may I put my bike with one of yours.

I'll be happy to pay for the fuel and beers.:)
