Another track day coming up and as you already know we need to put bikes onto the track.
I can add with good certainty that we need to impress over the coming 2 track days as the gaze is on us and the mini riders.

So please bullshit the boss and tell him 'your donating a kidney that day', tell your missus 'you love her but theres something you just have to do,' tell whoever anything you need to, to get to the track next fortnight  ...
10 am start as usual and still $25...
Make the most of it while you can ;) ...

Sibbo

I will be there with the berg, so if you all want a laugh, come and see me scratch my new bike.

No excuses people.

Hang on, that is the day before the GP. So its all go as normal? If it is, all you non-vic werdo's can drop in for the track day, on the way down to the island.

Muzzard
04-09-2006, 12:59 PM
And before you all start, 'Its Grand Prix weekend, I'll be at the Island'
I know this...
So dont bother with bullshit on this thread its 'cutting the fucking mustard time' or you ride in ya backyard.

Just if your coming or not...

Good on ya Craig,
I shot Jake a PM so maybe he will respond soon..
He is proud of his new green plastics and I hope wants to show them off ;) ...

Will be endevouring to use the dirt section for those who want the whole box and dice.
Please as you post your replies, nominate whether you wish to use the dirt next fortnight and that will allow for the broom and shovel etc to be brought for use between sessions.
Remember majority rules..

Muzzard

Gotta keep going though Ash until we are nil.
At least then, when they come and its no longer there we will have had our fun.
Cant say they weren't told.
Now you see the want for a big bike too, lonely laps piss me off.

OK then, I'm thinking I might give sat morning a miss at the Island, and do this instead.
I have leather pants, and a full armoured cordura jacket, is that going to be ok?
I haven't figured out the catch bottle, but I'll see what I can rig up before then.

Danno's bike still has the carton of 'ice break' hanging from underneath the rear suspension linkage from where he fit it up back up in wodonga

So long as you are conscious of the safety factor and you obviously are. Common sense rules when it comes to apparel and we just ask that you make an attempt at the track conservation issues ;)
I appreciate the sacrifice of the day at the Island.

a few of the boys got back from sepang yesterday ,apart from paul who got 3rd in the superbike support race . the rest said they would have much rather had come to the track for a few laps on the supermoto and watch the race on tv . they said sunday was ok but sat very hot then very very wet and boring.
its great to watch 1 time and to here the big fourstrokes roar , but you see so much more on the tv ..so if you have been before go PRACTICE it will be much more fun .
by the way randy was 2 sec a lap slower 2 up on the duc than the fastest superbike

Muzzard
13-09-2006, 08:42 AM
Randy can punt that thing with 2 up
I am pretty well of the same opinion as Shane.
Been to see the big bikes once or twice and would now prefer to get a better view without the hassle of Island hopping and the expense that a trip like that can cost.

GPTC for me and no phone calls get answered Sunday...

I will be there @ 10am.
No doubt pulled up behind Sibbo who would have slept there against the gate just to be in first...
Might be different to use the dirt for the last session and do it in reverse for effect.
Would make the little tabletop more rideable and the right hander not as weird too if we were to re-enter the track on the apex next to the Clubhouse. :-k

Besides I've got about 1/2 a track day in the rear tyre on the left hand side  .

Sibbo
15-09-2006, 08:56 AM
I dont have my rad guard made up yet, so I wont be able to follow too closly in the dirt, but it would be worth a go doing it reverse with the dirt section, it might be ace, you never know.

You will probably rock up to see me doing wheelies up and down the road at 10am!!!

Muzzard
15-09-2006, 11:35 AM
Aint much roost off a motard tyre mate :?
Besides wont you have already blitzed us down the back straight and be half a lap ahead?

Sibbo
15-09-2006, 12:22 PM
yes, the next lap I will be comming to lap you and I dont want to root my new rad.

But if there is not too much roost, it should be OK then.

All those going down the Island today and tomorrow,
Take it easy, so you can come to the next track day OK? :)

Muzzard
16-09-2006, 08:10 PM
Good weather, Brett was already lapping around when I arrived :D
and Angus and Craig came straight after us about 1030.
Quite a large amount of things with wheels there today but only the 4 motards (3 and 1/2 really as Craig was running block today on his bling mini) along with the little motard from GPTC which was also quite fast.
Brett had mixed fortunes today and I will let him elaborate on that, my back tyre is stuffed and Angus will lead the next motard cross country expedition, quite capably too as I saw him and his nice LC4 once or twice in different locations exiting the track into the grass.
All good though for his first attempt at a big bike like that and by the end of the third session was ripping around smoking the tyre into the corners, sometimes not necessarily when it should have been though. ;)
Craig ran with the pocket bikes a couple of sessions and then decided it looked safer with us. Not that slow either considering it is only a 125 and not yet developed.
Well put together little unit Craig and now I have to get Tania one too..
Look out Jake, ditch that frame and come this way :P ...

Must have been a severe accident near the Euroa interchange as we were diverted through the town and passed several ambulances and police cars with the party lights on. :(

sounds like fun muzz , did you run the dirt section ? how was sibbo for speed he has been talking the talk did he back it up , on the track ??????

Muzzard
16-09-2006, 10:53 PM
I had a good day Shane thanks.
The weather was nice not a lot of breeze and a few good sessions were had.
I dont want to pre-empt Brett having a say about how his day was mate.
I think Craig will no doubt have a comment as will Angus too.
There was some many karts and pocket bikes as well as the hire karts now in the sessions making it 4, so although we had a quick look at the line and in reverse looks feasible with some track work we didnt use the dirt today.
Maybe a good thing  ...
Ash lobbed at mid arvo to spectate although dressed in leather and riding the Husky to get there, declined the opportunity for me to pass him too.
Mate I gotta get a bigger bike, poor little thing got a wringing today chasing the 650 bikes around but of course being an old fart has advantages like my body being so friggin' withered now I can slip in on either side also because I can  , change direction between the 2 of them , squaring 2 hairpin corners in 100' and passin' em both  ...
Hang on a minute,
Maybe they should get smaller bikes ;) .
In fairness though Angus has only had his 640 a matter of months, Craigs on a mini motard, and Sibbo, well  ...
Like I said I had a good day mate 8) ...

I had a great time, found my way around the track - not terribly fast, but around anyway.

Took a couple of photos
http://www.speaks.geek.nz/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=443

I was amazed at several things... how fast the track can actually be, considering how tight it is.
How perfect the pockets bikes are for kids (and how silly adults look on the sports ones).
How sticky my tires really are, and that it's actually possible to scrub them right down to the edge of the front tire.
And how much fun can be had for $25.

I recommend anyone come along, there's no pressure to be faster than you're comfortable with.

Muzzard
18-09-2006, 07:12 AM
Glad you enjoyed yourself Angus.
The more the merrier I reckon, and you are right about the easy going nature of the track sessions.
You ride your own pace and it gives you the opportunity to learn a bit about your riding, like you said the tyre adhesion, and the advantage of watching others that are quicker to learn the lines and just how far you can push it.
Practice, Practice, Good place to do it really ;)

Good day, but the bloody corner comming onto the straight.....got me again. 3 times I have ridden there and crashed at that corner twice! This time it was at or only just before the apex and had a fight frith the front end, which did not want to come back from a slide.

Still need to work on a few sections, where Muzz was faster than me, but not for long!

Angus is a bloody quick learner and the next track day he will be a force to be reckoned with!

And the dirt is pretty bloody slippery with road rubber! I almost fell off in the car park and fell off in the dirt section doing about 5 kph!!!

good job champ , great to see you didnt let the team down and through it down the road .
we where out yesterday but only matt and myself , had a great time .matt had redone the suspension on that other CRF i got , i also put a new 16x16 radial brembo on it . what a break its sweeeeeeeeeeeet .we got the bike dialed in real good , i could not get past him the BASTARD, then he lost the front in a 3 gear flat out right hander about 2 foot in front of me ha ha ha ha the lap before he had pulled a meter or 2 on me on the way into that corner i thought fuck he is quick there but revenge was mine

Pfrrt, you are starting to sound like Ash, when I get my new bike, bla bla bla bla.

And we all have choices to what bike we decide to buy, if you wanted hp, you should of gone for a bigger bike. But you have a wike with a sweet smooth engine that makes putting power down a breeze. Probably a better bike for South Morang, but when we go to a bigger track (non-kart), it might be a different storie.

18-09-2006, 12:04 PM

You guys are funny. When you ride you bike to work as well we'll see how many track days you do!!
As far as worried about riding a Husky out of warranty your right I am I have had a list of failures (most trivial) that I wouldn't have the cash for right now if it were to happen again, not to mention a bigger failure that would see me repairing it and selling it and getting a car.
If I had a 610 I would have been on it no problem but almost 30000km's on a competition based bike is getting up there don't you think? When the Berg gets there (if and it is a big IF) and you have a wife house etc then give me shit.

:yadda:
The berg has not been bought to do high k's, so will probably take 10 years to do that many k's. It was bought to be ridden at the track and in the hills.

But I do see your delimer in only having one fragile bike that is about to break and force you into a cage, or you could pre-empt that fate and buy another bike now.....but..... :whip: you have a wife :whip:
