Just spoke to Gary/Wollongong City Raceway and there is no specific bike day for practice, but not on the weekends as its kart racing days :)
You can take your bike along Monday - Friday, 9am - 8pm. pay $100 for a 12mth licence and then its $40 per day thereafter 8)
It would be a mixed day, depending on who turns up on the day, karts/bikes, Gary said it didn't matter if you are the only bike that turns up, you would get your own 10 minute sessions
You must have all the protective gear and a back protector is compulsory. No back protector, no track time.
I'm thinking of running in the SXV either the beginning of next week or the week after, if anyone else is interested let me know ;)

Hey just check you are allowed to ride a real motard there, they may only have insurance that covers bikes up to 150cc as that's the racing that goes on there according to their website.

No problem Mark, the 150cc limit is for the Promo mini motards on their race day, which is the last Saturday morning of each month.
I might have to tell porkies that my 550 is only a 450 :p

They are licensed up to 450cc as Road racing.

There was already a thread on this floating around...

Well went for a drive today as my back is playing up :(
Drove down to the Wollongong City Raceway to have a look around. Pity about the bad back as I was the only peson at the track
Gary wasn't there but spoke to a couple of the guys.
They are licenced for bike practice up to 500cc.
The track runs clockwise, but when funds permit they are trying to licence to run counter clockwise as well as extend the track which is only 680m.
Once you purchase the yearly "Prokart race licence" this entitles you to be able to practice at Wollongong city raceway for only $40 per day.
The "Prokart race licence" also entitles you to be able to practice under their banner/insurance at any kart practice day held under the Wollongong City Raceway. This could mean from as far north as Ipswich down to Canberra.
For me this could mean taking the Ape for a run around Newcastle kart track for only $40 and its in my neck of the woods
Food for thought for those NSWelshmen who are able to take a day off during the week. Maybe for those interstate up for a race who could get some sneeky practice/tuning in.

Sounds nice, but unless the tracks have council DA approval for bikes it's just a pipe dream.

The tracks also need to be licensed by MNSW for Riding on (as wollongong is). This is the problem we face - none are.
