Cable snapped at 5.50pm in peak hour just getting underway on latrobe street. Stood around for a couple of hours waiting for traffic to thin out, then failed trying to get underway in any semblance of a manner that would be useable in bumper to bumper traffic. So parked it and caught a cab home instead  :pissed:

What a bastardos.
I snapped off a lever on te GSXR once and had to ride 30 km's home with no clutch. Not so good. Fun taking off at the lights in gear with the starter button, not. Pulling up at the light is not much fun either.

The thing wouldn't even start on the starter in gear, which I only realised because of silly clutch sensor thing on the cab ride home  Oh well, have to try and get out of work early tomorrow to drive back out to ringwood to pick up a clutch cable and then head into the city early in the AM the next day along with a set of tools to replace it. Bastard thing.

If anyone wants a free husky there's one I know of in town you can just push away

ha dont you love it when that happens. i was riding my girlfriends vt 250 when the clutch went had to ride it 50k without it. knock it into neutral as you roll up to a light then run along beside it when it went green then knock it into gear and jump on, lol. im trying to be nice and not mention it wouldnt happen with my KTM but thats just plain obvious

Bloody new bikes!

I had the clutch cable go twice on the KL in the city. One time, I put it on the train and went home. The other time, I just got a bit of a run up and then stabbed it into gear and rode home.

I must admit I was regretting my prior gloating about the simplicity of cable clutches compared to hydraulic (que ash here ;) ) ... well, got in to A1 this morning and no cables (of course), and neither did first class in lilydale. But the guys at A1 were kind enough to pull the cable off the TE610 on the floor

The cable is worth a whopping $84  which I paid for but I'll be expecting Feeney to cover over a warranty claim ... although its a 'consumable' item have it go in under 2000km is surely an indication of faulty production quality....

Good luck getting the money for the cable, if u want stuff to be covered by warranty never hand over the cash !!

Nah, she's right, was just stuffing around is all, an extra set of hands would have just been used to hold beer :lol2: Although that in itself isn't a bad plan :-k

Well, all turned out ok so far - got new cable fitted to bike after a pleasant all stops train journey into town :lol2: The new one also felt a little rough to use with no gloves on, so a bit of dissasembly on the weekend, greasing and perhaps a bit of cleaning up of any rough spots in the cable adjuster and lever assembly will be in order...

So we're all back cooking on gas now ... and in a moment of quiet reflection I have to say I'm really coming to like this husky despite a few niggles including the clutch cable, slightly sketchy jetting, external oil lubrication  etc. But not having it for only a night kind of annoyed me, and it was great joy that I wheelied away from work tonight.

As far as a street motard goes it kind of does it all ... I need a motard that I can commute on without having to change oil every 5 minutes and which is reliable, as even with a warranty being broken still takes away my main form of transport and relegates me to the car which is a fate worse than death. Well, nearly anyway.

With the pipe it has decent power, but more importantly grin factor power - wheelies in first and second just off the throttle and will pop the front snapping the throttle in 3rd which makes me think 3rd gear wheelies are just a matter of technique. Makes a good fruity noise from the pipe, but fairly unobnoxious when cruising which means it can be quite a bit more stealthy than the drz was.

Light enough, especially once under way, and the couple of runs through the hills the last couple of weeks has shown it to be quite good at scratching, very enjoyable to ride. Brakes are awesome and it even has a good headlight with a real high beam  Attractive to look at, especially with the new duke mirrors ;) and just has a nice feel to it. I find it takes me quite a bit of time with a bike to really get used to it and feel totally comfortable and at home, and that's the feeling I'm starting to develop now I think.

Another play thing would be nice, but it sure does cover all the bases so far. A bit more go would be nice, but then again you can say that about most tards. Grin factor sure seems to be there at the mo. Bring on summer :)

And to ride around somewhere familiar and larger than a motard orientated track, like the Island,
How do you think it would go for overall track rideability at entry level?
