Alright, just got off the phone with F1,
We can come down on the day, but they are expecting to be extremely busy, so can't really guarantee how much time we'll actually get on track. But there needs to be a decent number of us for them to let us on (I said there'd be at least 6-10)
So please mention here if your definitely coming, and i said I'd call em Tuesday with a fairly accurate number.
Maybe like last time we'll get lucky and have the track to ourselves first thing in the morning, get not much time around lunch and then more time in the late arvo.

Last year cops were friggin everywhere near the spur and that, 20 cop cars in the bakery parking lot, but sure we can find some roads where they aren't ;)

25-01-2011, 02:18 PM
ok so how about we meet in the usual spot (bell st maccas)
at say 9am?
you guys down with that. i can go earlier if you want to beat the rush
huskyboy610
25-01-2011, 02:24 PM
I thought the usual meeting spot was springvale/maroondah hwy maccas?
but yeah cool, bit early but sure I can get myself out of bed for it. Where you wanna head? (no DIRT!)
SlickNCGhia
25-01-2011, 02:45 PM
springvale. meh. thats the wrong direction. plus faz lives north and i do to so i just thought i would be more convenient.
I thought we would head out to the lake (best tard road in vic imo) and then some of the roads around towards healsy and then back.
cool? or we could go somewhere else if ya got any suggestions. just somewhere reasonably quiet but not too far

25-01-2011, 03:07 PM

Bit annoyed though that they've dropped the limit up there to 60. Though even a vitara I was following up there was doing 90 most of the time.

licence plate light (kicked the lense of 2 weeks ago and fitted a dodge up temporarily)
rear fender not long enough (or some bs)
mirror non standard! (lol wtf my mirrors are totally legal)
the guy had no idea about bike roadworthyness.... but thats good cause he didnt spot all the other things so i let it slide lol.
now i goto bugger around and find a proper fender eliminator thing and tail / plate light
possibly find someone with the stock setup? they were massive and real shit looking so most likely legal.

lucky i didnt get there
(btw why the fuck didnt my post show at8 this morn that i wasnt making it, like my text to steve??)
my light were fuucked after setting it up for tt, couldnt get them working. lets have a road ride soon thoguh!
Mate the Vic traffic cops have gone bike crazy...Bike rider does 190 but doesn't crash makes all the news for a couple of days. A BMW driver pulls out in front of two motorbike riders collecting them both...one dies the other badly injured. There was more of a story on how the two BMW drivers were taken to hospital suffering shock. Shock at the pathetic driving skills that really the driver should be facing manslaughter(or the like) charges for!!
Sorry its still early ;-)

Yeah but Mick, that guy did 190 in a 60 zone in port melbourne and was riding on a suspended licence. He deserves to be made an example of because that's just friggin stupid! Sorry but he doesn't deserve defending, just like all the bikers who ride around in shorts and a t-shirt.
Agree...but pulling out on 2 m/cyclists and killing one is far more stupid. H'berg Road is posted at 60kph there are parts there one could do 190ish on without feeling too excessive. At the end of the day he injured no one.
Car driver injures one and kills another by reckless/careless driving and more attention is put on the drivers being taken away due to stress!!
huskyboy610
27-01-2011, 10:44 AM
I do agree there, but just coz he didn't hurt one doesn't mean he couldn't have, at 190km/hr something pulls out 200m ahead your not gonna stop in time. I think it was more reported as he was doing it on a suspended licence, which means he'd have to already have done something pretty bad. I wanted to hear his excuse but no one reported that.
My point is I couldn't careless about one motorcyclist hurting nobody. The fact that a car driver kills someone is more of a reason to make an example of them in my book. Just as they do with any other crime that involves the taking of another persons life.
We are quickly creating a mentality of "as long as I don't speed I can do what I want" in Vic...which is wrong.
Come stand in my shoes just for one day and see just how many idiots are behind the wheel of utter death traps, but it is always the minority group(m/cyclists) that cop the shite!!

"as long as I don't speed I can do what I want" in Vic...which is wrong.
thats the general case... but they dont like wheelies and "riding with your feet out"
it concerns them allot more than almost running over small childeren as i found out on wed. oh well

To be honest I'd rather not, would be scary. I'm amazed the government doesn't do like in England which is RWC each year with rego, sure its an extra few $$, but it'd clear out a lot of the shit heaps pretty quick.
Down my way lots of cops are focusing on illegal U-turns which I think is good as seen many people hurt that way, and its always some stupid mum in a 4WD
Yeah your a bloody disgrace Ben...feet out and wheelies!!
You just have to sneeze on a m/bike and you will get pulled over it seems.

This is why track days and racing is where it's at! The more people doing these creates a larger voice which in turn creates more demand.
Riding on the road for fun is just plain silly, free and cheap but bloody dangerous.
Commuting is different and does not need to come into this conversation.
+1 I am slowly becoming a track day only person...which does make a lot more sense if only riding for fun...

I was getting sick of riding on the road. That's 1 of the reasons why I fitted my dirt wheels/gear back on my bike. There's no hoon laws in the bush or at MX tracks :D

Just big mudda fukka trees and 4wd bullbars coming the opposite way!
huskyboy610
27-01-2011, 04:40 PM
mmm I don't see whats so bad about riding on the road (aside from dickhead drivers). If you only wanna ride to do whoolies/hoon etc then yes your gonna end up in shit on the road, but if you at least enjoy getting from A to B on two wheels then its fun. Obviously if you wanna only max out your bike then hit the track.
off orad I reckon is just as dangerous, if not more so at times, trees are pretty unforgiving...

my theory with offroad is,
if you do have an accident, 99% of the time its your own fault, not some nuffy that changes lane ontop of you. at least if i bin it in the bush, i have myself to blame. something im happy to live with.

Very true, but I bet those trees still fucking hurt :P
I do honestly believe you can ride safely on the road without incident, even with all the nufftys out there, just need enough experience to learn the passive/aggressive riding. Though I do avoid riding in peak times and on the shitty freeways to be a bit safer. (hope I haven't just kiboshed myself)

27-01-2011, 05:03 PM
I've ridden on the road and dirt a fair bit and I've had my worst stack whilst riding on the road, riding off my bike at the same time and seriously injuring myself a fair bit and that was from hitting a tree which was about 1 metre from the road
The way I see it is, if you like riding on the road you do it, if you like dirt, you do that. The main thing is to enjoy yourself.
You can hurt yourself anywhere, anytime when riding bikes.
Personally, I find I use my bike alot more when it's set up for the dirt...
